Why would you be even near or charging into an Atlas? The same wisdom holds for Phantom. They can eat my Revenant from a reasonable distance and I'd only melee if I know I'd get her in one hit.

If you are killed by an atlas, you should be ashamed of yourself... Nothing else need be said.

The real topic of this thread is, "Why can't I play my Vanguard terribly and still win?"

Got that grap animation only once. Lesson learned.
By the way, Phantoms are way more than dangerous of the two. They can kill an entire squad if you're not careful.

Why are you trying to Nova an Atlas?

If I had no skills to reliably take it down, I would just offload all the ammo I could on it from safety. If everyone pitches in, this only takes a few seconds even on gold, even without rockets. No point charging in and getting killed.

I've taken down Atlas and Phantoms by charging them on my vanguard. Phantoms are easier of the two since they get pushed back further and allow you go back up a bit moving out of there 1 shot kill move. Atlas are little trickier since if depends on your surroundings more and how much space you have to work with.

Why are you getting that close to the Atlas? On another note I saw that one hit kill it was cool. He was grabbing some silly Krogan who wanted to play tough, and melee it.

All I got out of this thread was "waah my class isn't invincible in melee against the huge mech with hydrulic arms that can crush a car!"

I have never gotten crushed by it, even when I charge + nova + rollback.

I usually dont charge an Atlas head on unless its weak. I try to charge it from behind or off to the side.

Phantoms are ******... Krogan can take one out, no problem. Everybody else just gangs up on it and game over for the phantom. It only takes seconds to kill one and if you have whatever that power is to lift ****, the phantoms are stuck in mid air for everybody to have a piece of the rapage.

(Re:phantoms)

that doesn't change the fact that they go invisible and can 1-stab kill you regardless of health or shields. Having people there who can help you will stop them mid-stab, but they still scare me.

In gold this is really different, because they they can OS you pretty well. And because you have 4 of them on your back. Really harder than a terribly slow Atlas mech.

I've had it happen to me a few times. You just need to learn the "reach down and grab floor" animation that signals your doom if you get too close. If he hasn't started that animation before you charge, you'll have enough time to jump backwards before he grabs you.

Oh and on that note. Never charge it if you won't have a clear path to jump backwards.

Phantoms are much easier as long as you see them. Charge/nova combos kill them no problem. Its when they stab you when your not looking and behind cover that they're a problem. That's the main reason I always keep moving in waves 7 onward.

To answer the question: Why are you charging a Atlas?

1. That suckers on me tight and Biotic Charge staggers him while refilling my shields.

2. Nobody seems to have an Effing Cobra!

3. "I'm doing the best I can!"

No, seriously, Vanguards can solo Atlas without a Cobra if played correctly. Is it adviseable to? Probably not, it's a high risk target and you're probably better off killing other squishies. If it's just you and the mech, then it might be ok.

That or the team was stupid and wasted them on a group of guardians. Really? Cobras on squishes >.>

Not true, it depends on your class and specs, as a human soldier specced for health and shields I have taken several consecutive hits from pantoms without going down.

Well, rocket launcher allows you to kill Atlas with 1 hit so I say it's fair Atlas also has a 1-hit way to kill you ;P

A stab will kill you. A phantom melee normally breaks my sentinel's shield on silver but won't damage health. On gold, the melee breaks my shield nerf at least a bar or 2 of health and is almost immediately followed with a stab while I'm staggered.

I don't think you've seen what I've speaking of in-game. I'm not talking about their normal attacks. Phantoms can perform an execution move that will KILL you, not down you.
