Is there an explanation for this? If anything, they should roll faster! Not to mention they can roll from cover to cover...
.
is it a mistake from the demo?

Nope, Turians and Krogans don't have the roll "ability". Asari teleport, Quarians and Salarians hop form side to side, and Drell do flips.

Think of it as incentive to play a class that has the wonderful
unique ability of reducing command overload on the everything
key (spacebar for PC, "a" I think, for controller based systems)!

Cause they're badasses. They don't need petty rolls to avoid enemy fire, they just take it like a real turian.

Turians can't dodge but they run like lightning.

They have the reach, but the females have the flexibility, obviously. :wizard:

I know, it's so annoying. You struggle to dodge grenades and combat phantoms in CQB. If you're exposed, you literally CANNOT dodge an atlas missile or get away/out of turret fire. If I'm the turian, it's annoying because I die, if it's someone else, it's annoying because I usually end up having to save him.

You can roll sometimes, but only going from cover to cover.

Yeah, it sucks, but Turians get a pretty hefty damage and accuracy buff though.

Variety damn it.

Although I always thought Turians were pretty mobile, or at least fast.

You know the whole speed versus flexibility thing :P

Yeah, and Krogans get a huge health and melee damage buff, and I recall Asari having huge power and recharge bonuses. Everyone gets something. it's not like there's a race with no buffs out there. They just decide that they'll overpower your ability and then stop you from performing one of the most imperative basic functions in the game, instead of just balancing out the damage increase. Krogans admittedly don't need the roll ability because they can pretty much soak up any kind of explosive and mostly focuses on beating everyone to death using melee or shotguns and not really using cover, the turian though is a class designed for conventional weapon use and is getting severely punished for getting a buff there, while Asaris are given the ability to toss opponents around helplessly (with abilities to power these up and reduce wait times) and do not recieve an inability to dodge oncoming explosives.

never had problem with my turian.... infact I find him the best class to play, normally topping the scoreboard with him.... upon entering silver match.... on wave 4-6 yeah go figure, I think like garuss hes build for heavy accurate semi auto rifles, like the mad rifle or the viper sniper rifle (<----- especialy this) the antikick and passive gun damage bonus adds to up to a hell of alot especialy with the +20% headshot bonus

I don't find the Turian anything special or worth while. In fact, I mostly find him subpar in every aspect.
Not having a combat roll does factor in because this gives him a lack of quick mobility. Why they don't have it is beyond me.

Not a fan.
Can still do well with him really easily, but why bother when the others seem much more competent?

The Turians make up for it with higher accuracy and a lot of extra durability.

Does it necessarily fit the description of the race? Not completely according to my perception, but there's validity to it. I always pictured Turians as being quick, straight-line sprinters but the way they're designed I never thought of them as agile. Rolling doesn't really fit them because they're bony and rigid and bird-like. In a lot of ways, I always pictured them being similar to ostriches in their movement.

So what we got was a non-agile race that ran slow (which I think is a bit off) but made up for it by being tougher and more accurate. I think overall it fits them.

They're tanks pretty much, and it's not as bad as I thought it would be without being able to roll.

The more viable question is "why can't anyone duck without the cover".

so far sentinal turian has overload, which if you max to strip sheild means you can easily counter every single enemy in the damn game and still have the insane damage and durability buff that say.... an engineer lacks, you lack anti armor unless your packing a heavy pistol (I always do) but thats what the other 3 players are for, your the one killing everything else (well when your rockets have ran out anyway)

Because we got some amazing class boosts. Though they can roll from cover to cover. A Turian Sentinel is effective against any shielded enemy. Tech Armor allows for some great survivability and add in some heavy weapons, you got a powerhouse.

I recall being knocked down the least with a Turian sentinel on silver difficulty, though the rolling ability would come in handy when avoiding those Banshee biotic projectiles. You just got to use the cover more lol

Because Garrus is so cool, and we all know he can't dodge missiles, I guess the Turians decided to copy him in an attempt to be as cool as him.

You ever see a turtle on it's back?
That's what would happen.
It'd shame the whole turian race and military.
