The council is going to be useless. Absolutely useless. I've been going through the ME2 playthrough. The Turians are a bunch of whining little b*****. If they'd swallowed their pride and called for reinforcements earlier instead of leaving that all up to Shepard.... Then the Asari are also whining about the Destiny Ascension and not providing any defense to the Citadel, leaving that to the Alliance and the Turians, and since the Turians aren't doing sh**, it's falling to the Alliance. About the only allies Earth has are the Krogan (if you saved the cure for the genophage), and the Quarians, and the Rachni (if you spared the queen).

The Geth are still a question mark. They could still be reprogrammed by the Reapers. If anyone can figure out how the Citadel works it's the Quarians.

The Council is going to do nothing but sit on their hands. Time for a gangland style takeover.

I am however very interested to see how the scene will play out  if you did not save the Destiny Ascension.

After the reapers are dealt with. I'm going to demand a massive statue of Shepard in the Presidium and another one in the Turian council member's office that's always facing him and giving him the finger.

But if the dialogue vs the councill/tribuneral is any indication of the level of interaction Ill have with the councill, Ill likely be pidgeonholed into "do it yourself" and having to listen to yet another lame excuse afterwards about how the councill couldnt trust me and I should undestand their position.

No, this time they'll just be too wrapped up in defending their own countries to help Earth out, so you'll have to go to each planet in turn and complete a questline to solve their problems so they're free to unite against the Darkspa--er, I mean, the Reapers.

I've said before and I'll say it again.
I want a full blown mission where you fight your way through a wartorn building or cityscape whatever to reach the Turian Council (points if the Reapers themselves are attacking)
You finally reach where he is and he's thanking god that your here "you gotta get me out of here."
explosion knocks him down and he's trapped under something.
Shepard walks over to him and the dialog wheel shows up.
I don't care what the other choices are but I want one that says "Reapers? attacking?  thats been dismissed counciller I can't fight something that doesn't exist"
then just walk away leave him to die.
yes I want a mission that lets you go just to be a smart ass.

I actually agree with the Council and think the current governing method is probably the most reasonable for a collection of space-faring races. So yes, I am looking forward to seeing them again actually. Perhaps they have been played a little too tight to the politician stereotype, but really I would hope they get more than just a tiny, minor role in ME3.

Regarding ME1 I think it was a good thing they kept Shepard on his toes really. They didn't trust him completely and handing over almost unlimited power to someone always means you should keep somewhat of an eye on them. Plus in ME2, well, if someone I had just given carte-blanche went off and joined Cerberus I would probably be more upset than even the dear beloved Turian councellor was.

I am! And not because I am upset with them. I enjoy speaking with the council (no sarcasm).

This is going to be my first playthrough of ME3. This is the the BW canon anyway since the default start of ME2 without an import has the ME1 council dead. My final playthrough took the neutral choice of "We only get one shot at this. Concentrate on Sovereign. Everything else is secondary." Not: "Let the Council die." or "Save the Council." But as Liara put it, a "Sacrifice for the greater good."

I also didn't choose either Anderson or Udina to lead the council and left that to the politicians, yet was forced to choose at the start of ME2. I chose Anderson to make sure I got my spectre status reinstated, but from what that conversation went like is that every resolution was voted 3-1 with Anderson being the dissenting vote. So Earth gets hung out to dry.... again. So how many b**** pills can I take this time?
