Wouldn't it be more like an author saying 'I don't like to watch movies based off of my book'?
Definitely not.
...perhaps more like a movie script writer saying "I don't like to watch movies." They're writing FOR the area that they dislike partaking in.

Way to completely not read anything. She said she'd rather skip the combat sequences and get to the story.
You're right, I got that wrong. I apologize.Insane 1 wrote...
You seriously are a complete idiot.
Wonderful comeback.
1. Personal insult
2. No counter-argument
The stupidity behind your 'arguement' does not need a 'comeback' or a proper response. Your simple-minded self can't even think of a logical reason why the harassment isn't necessary, yet, you seem to stand behind it as if you're the douche who were part of it.

*facepalm* She has an opinion, she supports her opinion with her experiences, and she's called a cancer for it? She's right, books and DVDs do have the option to skip to parts the viewers likes, why does that make her a cancer? Not everybody has the time to play games and as a writer it's only natural that her interests lie primarily with the story aspects. That doesn't make her wrong.
Agreed

Every so often I'm reminded of why I don't generally admit to being a gamer IRL.

What is the surprise here?
And more important:
Why appeal to something so low for such a little (and normal) thing?
This is why I hate almost all the fanboys... They never think rationally

Please don't give attention to that stupid thread that was on reddit. The guy who made the post took widely known fake forums posts in her name and made them out to be real. Just ignore it.
I don't understand. What do you mean exactly?

Typical Internet /b/ehaviour. The minority harassing her don't represent a fraction of the fan base.AwesomeName wrote...
The negative reaction to her is completely over the top and mob-like. It's depressing really.

Hey.
Genius.
Look at my first post.
Guess what I said? I said, "what they're doing is wrong."
Once again, people are stuck in their black-and-white world. She CAN be NOT right, and still undeserving of the hate.

It's a lot more nuanced.
Sometimes the Internet can be a terrible, horrible place.

That being said however, the idea of a skip combat button is just... odd, in my opinion. If I wanted to play something that skipped combat or just didn't have any, I'd go play a visual novel, but I'm glad she hasn't pushed to include or hasn't successfully been able to push this in Bioware games.
She also admittedly isn't my favourite writer of Bioware, but I wouldn't go so far as to call her the 'plague'.

By you saying she isn't completely innocent for having an opinion, within itself, it partially justifying their actions.

A game story writer writes stories. Not gameplay mechanics or combat scenarios. There's no innate need to like all aspects of the medium.

I think that with it being a video game you need to have the combat. There are easier difficulties though if you want to hurry through it but having a 'skip button' just wouldn't work.
She needs to make a public comment though and denounce some of these false allegations. It is awful how some people are taking what she said and turning into a huge negative and removing the reasons as to why she said that. Kotaku needs to correct their article and put original response at the top instead of the bottom.

Ignoring the fact that the idea is completely ludicrous, any one with some sense and Internet access can confirm that she doesn't even write for ME.
