This system adds zero benefits to my gameplay while severly hindering the choices I can make about how I wish to play MY game.

Want to use the super awesome Widowmaker or Claymore? Have fun with nerfed power recharge times.

Want to play a Vanguard with a sniper rifle? HAHAHAHAHA, not happening with this system.

Want to be severely overpowered? Nope, sorry, can't do that.

They had to find balance somewhere, or else you would have tons of adepts walking around with Widows, Mattocks, and Claymores.

Want to play a Vanguard with a sniper rifle? Take a hit to your weapon damage in order to lower power cooldowns by using weight reduction talents. It works if you aren't dumb.

The weight system balances the game out,I'm cool with it. Sidenote why would anyone want to be a vanguard sniper? that class is clearly made for close quarters combat.

If you play on PC you will prob be able to edit the weight values to your choice via a console/editor.

Although I'm not saying you should play like I do, I find that 2 weapons is more than enough for ability strong classes. It seems that with just 2 weapons you'll be able to use abilities fairly well and still have some options. Don't forget you'll be able to switch weapons around prior to each mission, well if the other two games are anything to go by. So you'll still be able to use a sniper rifle as a Vanguard but not with every other weapon on each mission. That luxury is reserved for Soldiers.

I play adept with a pistol. But I tried a soldier, and imo it sucks for them too, Soldiers should have a LOT more weight capacity.

I like only having to two to three weapons has a soldier cuts down on all the junk I don't need. All I need is my AR and Shotty and im good to go.

Not just that. 2 good weapons still cut down soldiers cooldowns a LOT.

Yep, If this is what he wants then he isn't a proper vanguard.

Except that a properly leveled Shepard won't have any weight restrictions, making this a non issue.

Its a better way to balance classes than the arbitrary weapon choices forced on you in 2. I'm down with it.

Yeah Vanguard (Human) in MP is pretty epic concentrating on power dmg and Charge/Nova.  You can spam the thing every 3.21 seconds with just a pistol and smg (200% recharge bonus with lightest versions equiped).  Who needs a sniper rifle when you can wipe out whole waves, tank Atlas mechs and destroy phantoms within seconds?

I would say its arguable the best class for killing waves if you quick with your reflexes.  I only hate playing them because of the sphysics bug when you charge after dieing.  Hate falling through or foatling off mission map.

I would say the cooldown system is the best combat addition yet to ME.  No more "equip the best weapons and the most weapons" to win.

Ahaha...ahaha..."no benefit to my gameplay". It's not supposed to benefit you. It's supposed to limit you.

It's the whole. damn. point.

I finished the demo without firing a shot (it takes ages because the tutorial level is scripted to the ammo count). I don't think I'll have much problem with the weapons.

Mr. Mercury, we're going to have to take your singing license away for improper use of a partial lyric in a video game forum.

I like the system, it feels right to limit us but at the same time balance out guns vs powers in a new and exciting way. I can take a sniper rifle with my Adept and still use my powers every 2.4 and 3.2 seconds respectively.

The system adds way more depth.  Want to play a Vanguard with a sniper rifle?  Hey guess what, you actually will have to make tough decisions about the direction of your char.  You can take just a pistol and sniper for quick cool downs, or take a shotgun and sniper and have longer cooldowns but a lot of firepower.  Certainly playing a Vanguard as sniper/pistol would be a viable build...I beat Silver with one other guy playing as a Vanguard using only a Locust and just destroyed everything with super fast CDs.

The new system is great because for the first time in ME, you can actually build a character any way you want, while still maintaining a certain level of balance.  The Widow and Claymore are extremely powerful...don't you think there should be some sort of drawback for using them?  Or else you wind up with the ME2 Mattock...it basically trivializes the game.

and its not YOUR game.  Did YOU make the game?  You're just playing it.

I actually quite like the system and seeing adepts and engies carry a Mattock and Shotgun always cracks me up. If you are comfortable enough with power usage you can get away with just a tempest (which is still ridiculous) on all the power use classes. My main gripe is that one of the main class features of Soldiers was that they carried the full complement of guns. Do that now and you can forget about AR. It's fair enough that an Adept or Engineer shouldn't be able to but it doesn't really fit with Soldier. With Vanguard the penalty you pay for carrying a pistol on top of a shotgun is pretty hefty yet they kind of need it for a lack of ranged tools. While I can get away with just a Shotgun in MP out of reach enemies are going to be a problem in the campaign otherwise.

Personally I think there should also have been a proficiency system for guns other than side arms, if a class is proficient with a gun type it encumbers less before spending any points. That way soldiers could carry more guns, Infiltrators and Vanguard could more comfortably carry their signature weapon and a side arm.

Vanguard doesn't need ranged, they are ranged --> CHARGE :) if they can shoot you you can charge them.
