So I have already done all the dlc except LOTSB and Arrival. I save arrival for after I have completed the suicide mission.

My first question is when story wise should I do LOTSB. I have heard some people say after the suicide mission whereas others  say there are so many upgrades that its better to do it prior to the mission. This is my main cannon save file so I am trying to get everything perfect. I have only ever beaten this DLC once in my evil save file like a year or longer ago so dont really remember much.

What did you guys and gals do in your playthroughs and did you enjoy how it turned out. e.g. different dialogue for pre/post suicide mission

My second question is about romance.

So in ME1 my character had relations with the consort and Liara (my renegade file Ashley). I am currently uncommited so far in ME2. My instincts were for Shepard to go with Miranda but ive heard with the LOTSB you can continue your relationship with Liara.

Has anyone done this and can confirm it. Is it worth it compared to romancing one of the other crew mates.

Also You can sleep with Jack and still romance other characters and it doesnt effect it at all, would it effect continuing the relationship with Liara.

Well that ended up being longer then I though. Thanks to everyone for reading it and helping me out. Getting so jacked for March 6th!!!!!!!! :D

From my experience I believe the only change in dialogue is when Liara and Shepard are 'catching up' on the Normandy. If you haven't completed the suicide mission she says your leaving and doesn't know if your coming back or something along those lines. If you have, she says something slightly different.

And as a sidenote, Arrival fits in whenever you wish to play it. In the conclusion when Hackett is speaking to Shepard, shep says something like 'when i finish the mission, i'll turn myself in'.

If you speak to Liara in the Normandy (personal cabin) after the suicide mission was done, then she speaks about her concerns regarding your role in the inevitable battle that is to come soon against the Reapers. It's something along the lines of "when the Reapers arrive, you'll dive into the fray...", etc, I can't remember by heart right now. Also, she asks how Shepard feels, after your answer (any) she eventually mentions that after all you destroyed the Collector's base (well, if you chose to keep it then I don't know what she says, the dialog might be different for that specific part), that is of course if you invite Liara to the Normandy after you do the suicide mission.

What I do remember is that completing the main missions BEFORE visiting Liara for a second time (to invite her to the Normandy) then as far as I can remember the dialog for when Liara comes to your personal cabin is kept intact in accordance to what you've done prior to that point (prior to her visit in your cabin). So, in other words, you can say... beat the main missions BEFORE completing the suicide mission if you want, and then AFTER the suicide mission you can always go visit Liara to the SB's base to invite her to the Normandy, at which point her dialog will surely imply that you did destroy the Collector's base, and the rest of the dialog. Although... I'm not 100% sure if doing it this way will be safe when it comes to the dialogs (if so, then please anyone confirm this).

If I was you, I'd just not do the DLC at all until everything is completed prior to doing it, at whichever point you want to do it yourself, so if you want to do the DLC after the suicide mission, then don't touch it at all until it's done, just to be safe.

Ok cool thanks for the tips. Now I just need to decide if I romance a ME2 squade mate or if my shepard wants to remain faithfull to Liara. I play as a less stern James Bond from Casino royale so its more in character to romance some one.

How are your ME2 playthroughs going? The timing for me is looking like I'll finish the suicide mission and DLC and it will be like a day or two until ME3 is out

Although I liked doing BOTH after the suicide mission, someone pointed out that the earlier you do LotSB, the more benefits you can "reap" from the end result. Without spoiling anything, you'll see what I mean.
However, there is an occasional glitch in that if you do not recruit Samara before you initiate the LotSB dialogue with Liara, you cannot recruit her at all.
So, be forewarned. I'd recruit both Thane and Samara before LotSB, just to be safe.

So by benefits you can reap do you mean having sex with Liara because ive been googling and thats what it seems like.

My character is currently 1 dialogue away Miranda "coming by the next time things are quiet.". So im wondering if I invite Liara to my ship get jiggy with it and then Shepard can get jiggy with Miranda before the suicide missions.

Or does my Shepard sleep with Miranda pre suicide mission and invite Liara to the normandy after to "reap" the benefits.

Im just wondering how this all will affect Mass Effect 3

My inclination is to have my shepard sleep with as many people as possible because like I mentioned above he is Daniel Craig but then part of me wants to stick with Liara. Ive never really liked her but on my recent cannon playthrough of both games her character grew on me

Well, what I meant by reaping benefits was the minerals and upgrades you get every day you visit the Shadow Broker Base.
As far as the romances go, you can do both, but I think in ME3 it's gonna consider it "cheating" which is said to negatively impact your game.
They make it sound like it's all or nothing as far as the romances go.
Wouldn't mind it if they gave you an option to "continue" a romance in ME2 with Ash or Kaidan the way they did with Liara.
In general, I figure that my gf wouldn't let me go on a suicide mission without being by my side. So, in actuality, THEY are the ones calling off the relationship. I'm not "cheating."
But I digress.
I was talking about the actual benefits of upgrades, credits, and minerals.

Cool thanks for the reply. Ive been back to the base once so far and it was totally worth doing it pre-suicide missions.Got shotgun upgrades as well as a ton of other stuff.

Im very torn, my oppinion on the relationships is like yours but I have also heard how its all or nothing which scares me.

If it scares you Bioware has done an excellent job simulating real-life Relationships

In a "real-life" relationship, I'm not forced to run around the last third of my life with my vengeful ex while my current GF joins me for one mission.

Well Liara can hardly blame me for seeking comfort with an already dying man prior to embarking on something that will most likely get me killed now can she? My femshep could use it, he could use it and she wasnt there. Besides he will be dead in 5-6 months anyway.

I agree... for the most part.

The thing is, I'm loudricously loyal in real life, so I'd probably stick with Liara if it was still "semi-official."

The two things that tear (as in "tore," not cry) me up I just re-experienced last night.

Tali's speech about not wanting to distract me during the mission, how I deserved to be with someone I could be more intimate with, and how she never thought anyone could see past her mask and still be interested in her.

Liara talking about how she searched with so much dedication to find my body so that Cerebus would even have the chance to bring me back to life.

How do you choose between those two? Posted Image

I guess Liara, since there's "history," but Tali is SOO close.

Did anyone else get the conclusion to LotSB where Liara visits the Normandy, has a friendly chat then leaves with Shep saying "come back soon" and somber and sad... this was after telling Liara that they could just be friends?

Hmm...

I feel like that's the default ending if you have another LI besides her.

I think LotSB only has two endings. You get back with Liara or you have another LI. Whether or not this is considered "officially" breaking things off with Liara or not, I'm not sure. I'll have to wait until ME3 to find out.

But it's been made to sound like an ME2 LI is gonna screw you over in ME3, so I don't know HOW they're gonna approach that.
