seeing as humans have only been space faring for 100yrs or so how have they become so prominate in the galaxy compared to more established races? going by the galaxy map they control approx 1/8 of the total systems in the galaxy which to me is extremely unrealistic.

edit: meant to post this in general discussion. but can discuss here I 'spose.

Remember the conversation with Liara in the first game about how the other races are intimidated by the humans because we are so aggressive by nature, due to our short life spans in comparison to everyone else. (salarians aside cause all they care about is reproduction) We want to do everything we possibly can before we die.

And because of that, that is how we became a council race so early while others have been trying to be for centuries probably. We also set up colonies in the areas closest to earth and it probably just exploded outward from there.

The map does NOT appropriately describe the various spheres of influence that each race has.

1. You're looking at a 2d map when the galaxy is 3d. It's quite possible for say council space to be "on top" and "below" the systems alliance space.

2. The discharge limitation means that any exploration is limited to a sphere around solar systems. If there is 200 ly from a planet with a relay in system to another planetary system without a relay and no planets in between, there is no way to GET to that system.

3. As per ME1, the Citadel races including humanity have only explored 1-2% of the galaxy.

Basically put, they made it for ease of use.

*SIGH*

This is not exxactly true at all...listen to the volus and elcor ambassador talk and the volus will complain about how humanity is spreading so fast but the elcor will point out that the volus when they first reached the citadel races actually expanded FASTER than humanity did both economically and in terms of colonies.

Basically, we're the new kids on the block and we're grabbing all that is nice and shiny..I fully expected the Raloi to be the same if the Reapers weren't coming...

Because Space is a pretty big place and in terms Alliance space could rather small... and like it was said.. for all that space. The Citadel Races only explored 1-2%...

Vastness of the Galaxy and let alone the universe is nearly mind breaking.

Like they said only 1 or 2 percent of the galaxy is explored. Alliance space may be huge but they haven't nearly explored every single star and the planets orbiting said stars and ya space is in 3 dimensions so a single plane doesn't do a galaxy justice
