As much as I'd like to, its hard to justify paying $30-$40 for ME2 storyline DLC when I'm about to drop $80 on the CE + $DLC on ME3. Its something I could live without -- but I would absolutely buy it all if it cost less than the full retail game itself. Any chances of this happening.... in what......... 2 weeks time? I'm sure there are a lot of holdouts out there, especially ever since (a long time ago) the game dropped from $60.

Maybe this comes off complainish, but whatever. When storyline DLC far outcosts the much larger core game, its just not gonna happen. And if that's the case, so be it.

INB4 ur so cheap, get a job, cool story bro, etc.

Just asking. Valid point, no?

You make a very valid point. The price is why I haven't bought it yet either. $40 for dlc is bs, ESPECIALLY since ps3 users got all of the storyline ones for the same price PC and 360 users paid. Game devs always wonder why people resort to piracy...well, here's your damn answer! It's stupid to charge nearly the price of a whole game for add ons. I personally will not pay more than $15-20 for the storylines and MAYBE the comic one too. Prices should go down after something has been out for a few years, not stay at the same bs price...

The truth of the matter is...a monthly paycheck only amounts to so much...Hell, even if you're making good money, based on how you were raised, you'd rather not pay more than the sum of all utilities on a dlc, maybe not even a core game.

Having said that, the Mass Effects are awesome games, and the DLC's are enticing me real proper-like..But we all have to sustain ourselves first..And the customer # to individual cost ratio at a slightly more descent level would surely cover production and profit by eradicating grounds for hold-backs..just saying.

I found totally this ridiculous. I mean even if I buy ME2 right now, it'll cost me less than buying the DLCs. Plainly stupid. DLC should downprice at the same rate as the game once they release not stay fully priced forever.

Yea the DLC system for PC's royally screws us with a constant high price. While the console versions have occasional sales where you can d/l the dlc for cheap, this NEVER happens on PC.

Now about the other point, I actually pre-ordered the N7 Digital Deluxe Edition off of origin since the DLC included in it, in my opinion, its cheaper than purchasing it separately a few weeks later with BW points + tax. Especially since it comes with additional mission and character dlc, my guess the From Ashes DLC that has everyone pissed. I dont blame em, but I love ME3 too much that its the ONLY game EVER I'd even consider dropping $80 for.

DLC is almost always at a much, much worse value for your money than the base game, but it's a great way for publishers to cash in on the whale phenomenon that funds F2P games (a whale is a player who spends inordinately more cash than a regular customer, often tens or even hundreds of times mroe). DLC costs you more for what you get and more of the money goes to EA (70% vs just 30% of a retail box), so as long as they think they can get away with it, they'll keep the price high and keep hoping to reel in another big one, and that could go on a very, very long time. Remember Oblivion's horse armor? That still sold dozens of times a month at $2 a pop (it launched at $3) even as late as 2011.

There are some companies who treat DLC as content-laden micro-expansions (see Sins of a Solar Empire or Borderlands). EA sees DLC as a way to siphon cash from the whales. You will never get your money's worth buying full-price DLC from an EA-owned developer, and since ME2's DLC is used to advance and/or flesh out the plot, I don't see any reason to buy ME3 until the ME2 DLC price drops to reasonable levels. Greedy business practices lead to lost sales, whuaaa?

I'm waiting for Mass Effect 2 GOTY-like edition, which would contain all DLCs that come up since lauch.

BTW In my region, Cerberus Network code (1200 points) costs more than a new game (~8$)!

It's sad to say but I don't think we'll see a GOTY edition since there should had been one maybe a year before the 3rd one came out, look at dragon age origins GOTY,  and were about a week before release? If there isn't a sale a week before or a few days before the release of ME3 than we're probably going to have to compromise, or just not bother with the ME2 dlc at all. It's sad because I wanted to see what happened in all the dlc but I don't really want to throw down $30 when the game is $10 new on amazon. Oh well time will tell

I'd like to say that I would buy some of the DLC if Bioware does this.

Forget dropping the price of DLC, Give us a Ultimate Edition already. At 3600 points for all dlc (4800 in my case as my copy is used and I'm not paying 14.99 for Cerberus network when the game right now retails for 19.99!) The dlc combined costs ten dollars less then ME3 day one, and I for one am hesitant to get into ME3 knowing I'll be missing major parts of the story (in my case everything about the character Zaeed) but won't pay so much money just to get the complete experiance. I've been waiting patiently for the release of an Ultimate Edition, but wouldn't you know it never came. I generally don't buy too much dlc online as I still prefer physical media and I would not be opposed to buying the game again to have a copy with everything on it. Until then I likely won't be playing ME3 as while the content isn't likely critical to the overall narrative (as is stated by Bioware), I generally don't enjoy taking a step forward in a story only to take a step back later to revisit parts of a story unavailable to me before. I want the Mass Effect 2 dlc, but if I play Mass Effect 3 I won't anymore... if

While 8 responses certainly looks like nothing in the grand scheme, its the volumes of unspoken people reflected in this thread that does say a lot. For example, this is the first post I've made on BSN and I've been playing Bioware games since the beginning. All of those who won't bring themselves down to publicly complaining -- but when faced with reasonable figures - they will pull the trigger. I'm very surprised EA hasn't considered this market leading up to the release of ME3. There are people who love the series and bought every DLC when it became available. And there's an -untapped- market of people who love the series, but won't simply accept and pay the release-date price of the full ME2 game ($50-$60)......for.......DLC. Simply storyline DLC, that is, not everything. Something to consider.

As said in the OP, I think I speak for a lot people when I say I would pull the trigger, especially at this moment in time -- but I won't give in for prices of DLC that didn't fluctuate with the value of the entire game itself.

All that said... I've already bought the DDE of ME3 and can't wait for release. If it has to come down to it, I'll watch Youtube videos of ME2 DLC on March 5 so I know what I missed.

Annnnd having said all that.......... this is probably the wrong place to begin with, as this network is Bioware, not necessarily EA.

^ Bioware is the one selling the points to buy the dlc with though. So they are being greedy by not having sales on it. DLC that is still around 3-4 years after a game has been out should be a reasonable price, not the same $30-40 bs it was from day one. If all the dlc was on a disc/download for $10-15 I'd buy it right now!

And you mentioned you got the DDE for me3. Don't even get me started on prices for those! Definitely shouldn't be the same as the physical version as you aren't even getting any of the art books or whatnot.

Kinda bumping this (and also throwing myself in here) because Origin recently (a couple weeks ago) had a sale on many games including ME 1 and 2. Their already-reasonable price of $20 was lowered down to $10 for each of the two games. I wanted to grab them already, and at that price I grabbed 'em immediately.

So, wanting the full experience (especially since I intend to play the game for someone else), I'd like to get the DLC for ME2. However, the 4 mission DLC packs are literally going to be more than one-and-a-half times what I paid for both of the first 2 games. For less than 1/10 of the gameplay time.

I'd love to throw out the money and buy the DLC packs, but not for the $31 accumulated cost for all 4 mission packs. Even if I'd bought the two games without the sale, that's still an enormous price in comparison (since it's still more than 1.5x the price of ME2 by itself).

Would've just bought the PS3 version of ME2 for the 'free' included DLC, but I don't own a PS3 and I still would've had to play the first one (without import bonuses) on the PC anyway, so that wasn't an option.

I agree with the OP, I would love a sale because currently at this price the DLC just isn't an affordable purchase especially since ME3 is out now.

I too think it is time to lower the price for the ME2 DLC. The Shadow Broker and Arrival DLC costs more than the original game.
From what I have heard these DLCs er prequels to ME3 and add additional story to series, so I really do want them, but the price is just stupid :(

Looks like there was a sale back in January. Hopefully there'll be another one soon.

Just what I was thinking. I love Mass Effect, one of the best games I ever played. So I would have liked to buy the DLC, at least some of it - but no way I'm going for it at full release price. It's not a question of being able to afford it, it's a question of principle.

That DLC is years old, and the price for it should go down like the price for the core game went down. Expecting customers to pay nearly as much for ONE DLC as the core game goes for these days is truly ridiculous.

So, dear EA and Bioware, maybe you should consider dropping the point cost for older DLC. Otherwise I (and as it seems a lot more people - as another poster said, people speaking up are always just the tip of the iceberg) will rather keep my money.

Which is a shame because I hate to miss it. But I hate feeling ripped off more.

If the DLC was brought down in price relative to the current cost of the game, perhaps more people would buy it instead of obtaining it elsewhere...
