I just want to be a turian. 

Every time I use credits to buy a pack, I get something useless like "Human male adept" despite the fact that it's already unlocked by default.  Am I doing something wrong or what?

I'd say it comes with patience, and luck ofcourse. Ive been buying vetren packs like 5-10 a day all weekend.and i have. The widow, carnifex, Claymore, Locust, Hornet, Tempest, maddock, viper, plus the starting guns ofc. and a turian slarain drell, krogan and quarian. N7 level 86, and i get this horrible feeling that when the game comes out and everything is scrapped, I'm going to have the worst luck, like i normally do.

Edit: the frustraiting part is all i wanted from day one was a quarian infil, today after so many vet packs trying, i find out they arent even in the demo!.

I unlocked quarian engineer and it's all I use now. I just get veteran packs.

I've opened dozens of veteran packs and have four rares to show for it: two Quarian Engineers, a Salarian Infiltrator and the Hornet. One of the Quarians came from the starter pack.

It took me forever, but I got a Turian Sentinel and a Salarian Infiltrator.

Persistence and Veteran Packs. Also, play Silver/Gold--the payout is higher.

Will it really get scrapped you think? I hope not but nonetheless the gameplay is amazing and I can't wait to see all the new maps. Any idea what the new maps will be?

Make sure you're buying veteran packs. Be patient. The unlocks will come.

Same here. In one of my first packs I got a Krogan Soldier (sporting a Mantis and Mattock at the moment). Going for the Asaris though, no luck. I think I have the Katana shotgun upgraded to like level 6 or something. Haven't equipped it once. So that's nice.

Hopefully when the retail version comes out I'll have better luck with stuff I want.

Hmm. I get the feeling that my character is going to get to a high level before I unlock any aliens. Multiplayer is pretty fun, though. There's no reviving in singleplayer, lol.

I just unlocked a Salarian Infiltrator earlier today. Not the class/race combo I wanted (which, from what I read, can't even be unlocked in the demo,) but none-of-the-less, he'll get some play time.

At first, I complained about the randomness of it all (and my crappy luck, there's reasons I don't play the lottery,) but it's given me a chance to try out all sorts of class/play styles a lot better than Single Player did.

I have an N7 rating in the mid-80s, probably bought like 60 or so Vet Packs but still have no Turian Sentinel or Salarian Infiltrator or even a Carnifex or Widow.

Don't mind though, keeps me playing and I'm rocking out with my Asari Adept, Human and Quarian Engineers and Mattock X.

I got the Drell Vanguard and the Salarian Infiltrator. They are great but they are probably the two species i wanted the least. I really want a Krogan!

All I wanted from the demo was to play as a Turian after reading you could play as every race. I was so excited when I finally downloaded the demo and jumped straight into multiplayer. ...Only to learn you have to unlock every alien race via purchasing completely random kits that have a higher chance of giving you repeats of what you already have than anything I've seen in any mmo with grab bags. I've said this a lot on these forums over the past few days, but I find it a little unfair to say we can play as any race and then force us to play as a human until we're lucky enough to pull what we want out of a 20k credit pack. I really do hope Bioware adds something to make it easier for players to get the race they actually want...

What if in the actual game you can play as any race and class and the random bag is just for the Demo only?

exactly, we don't know these things yet, we're all just speculating on here. I'm as excited as all of you but we just have to be patient for a couple more weeks.

I've played every race. Just got Salarian today. Took a couple of days to get that one though. Maybe its luck? And usually when you get the "Human female/male *insert class*" package, it gives you XP.

So I finally unlocked a turian sentinel, only to find out that they can't roll. Oh well. I'll take what I can get.
