I made a video of my most recent solo Bronze run. I can do pretty much the same thing on Silver (minus 2 Atlas' part), but Gold completely destroys my self-esteem. Anyway, if anyone is interested in Vanguard's epicness, here's a video.

How are you spamming charge every other second.

didnt watch the video but I'm assuming you just use a submachine gun and a heavy pistol to reduce your recharge time no? That way you have less weight

Switching from shotgun to Avenger Assault rifle gives you +200% power recharge speed.

Hes using avenger assault rifle, but I can't really explain it unless maybe boosts or whatever.

Charge cooldown is pretty low already. Put a avenger + 25% faster recharge from nova and you can spam charge all day long.

Too bad nova will murder you on gold.

Spec right and you can have your cake and eat it too. Rock the katana and phanlanx with only 185% recharge rate.

see, to me that would get boring just endlessly charging all day. I like a more tactical approach to my mass effect but that's just me haha.

For me, jumping all over the place is the least boring way to play, but that's just my personal taste.

And how is this any less tactical than your "tactical approach"? The way the OP spec'd his Vanguard and how he uses her is pretty tactical.

I was under the impression that vangaurds should use shotguns
Are ARs viable as well?

That's easy a Level X Avenger is ridiculously light and powerful, I use it for my adept

Shotguns are actually less useful to Vanguards in ME3 compared to ME2 due to the enhanced focus on melee and the addition of Nova to the Vanguards arsenal.

When I play Vanguard, I rarely fire a shot. I roll Carnifex only for +200% cooldown. Only use it at extraction and to take down Guardians with headshots after I stagger them with Charge.

If I could roll no weapon for +250% cooldown, I would no question. Charge + Heavy Melee + Nova is all I need.

Don't know about ARs but I use an SMG (Shuriken X) and it's viable on Bronze and SIlver. On Gold it would just take too long to finish off enemies I guess. So no SMG and probably no AR there.

Uh... no? The only things to ever harm me on Gold are turrets and the Atlus's instant kill if I don't circle him. Charge-Nova spam works on nearly everything (Charge, then pistol rounds to the race on Guardians instead). Get your cooldowns extremely low and spam Charge-Nova constantly. The resulting carnage rips everything apart and isn't actually dangerous.

Avenger is a thing of beauty.

By the way, how good is that "half-charged Nova"?

It is propably the best shotgun I've seen in the demo. Nice rate of fire and good enough damage (oneshot headshots too).

I suck at shooting and the loses aren't that great if I miss with assault rifle. Shotguns, however, are much slower so if I miss (and I tend to do that a lot) it really slows me down. Besides, shotgun's reload time seems to be longer than eternity when you charge every other second.

@Arppis
Half-charged nova helps me survive silver and gold since it doesn't take 100% of the barrier. But I wish there was a respec option because I'd love to try the Power Recharge talent.

I roll with Avenger as only weapon to reduce weight and routinely extract with 10-20 headshots and it keeps me number 1 or 2 in almost every match - Im currently only 16th level, so quite a bit of growth still needed :)

The above is as a Vanguard, of course...

Does half-charge nova stagger just as well?  Because the real benefit of nova isn't the damage (which is great), but the area stagger effect.

I specced into power recharge, which is an interesting tradeoff.  Half-nove leaves you with more shields to survive to your next charge, but full lets you charge faster.  I need to try half-nova to see what feels better.

As far as I know, yes it is the same. I also chose the increased nova range over increased damage so
the end result is pretty impressive.
