And as a Nigerian, I'm inclined to agree with you - in some places. Other places he just sounds off-the-walls wrong. His pronunciation also isn't always consistent. Don't know what to make of it except "invented accent."JimmyTheProthean wrote...

I sincerely hope this isn't real

The voice could have been done by a person of nigerian descent living in places like the Uk, which may be why it sounds of the wall.

Since it has been suggested in this thread that the VA may be Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who is a British born actor of Nigerian descent, this all makes sense to me.
EDIT: I see you just made reference to this, Random. Definitely makes the case for him.

As for the voice itself, I think it works fine. A friend of mine of mixed Nigerian/Zulu/English descent thinks it sound like some of his Nigerian relatives.

I think that guy confirmed he had nothing to do with ME3, yesterday.

One more time, Liz Sroka herself said the accent is supposed to be an unidentified Eastern European Gypsy. Perhaps Romanian.

Or the classic:
"You humans are all racsist"?

Just him showing up at the citadel council should be enough to convince them of the reapers
You kinda get them convinced on Reaper existence after you get to Citadel, which is right after Earth and Mars missions.
You can only get Prothy after you talk with the Council about it and by that time they believe in Reaper invasion.

I thought this was sarcasm at first, but now I'm not so sure.Seraphael wrote...
I would have thought that was obvious. English or American English is the neutral form of Earths dominant language. Likely in a far distant future with centuries of cultural exchange, dialects, accents and even whole languages would disappear or at least be greatly diminished - a bit in the same manner American English dialects vary less than the original English ones. Aliens would naturally choose to learn the dominant human language in it's neutral form. Giving an alien an accent endemic to a specific regional part of Earth is therefore doubly detrimental to immersion.
If that was serious, then the dominant language would have been chinese, not english, being as chinese is the most commonly spoken language on the planet, followed by english, spanish and french.
I think there is a misunderstanding here. I believe Seraphael may have been hinting at lingua franca, sometimes called a "trade tongue". In the past, it's varied. But currently, it's English.
As for Prothy's voice, I don't much care for it. I would have liked the accent to be a little less extreme (but still there), and with a deeper, more imposing voice.
And for the knee-jerk types in this thread, if you think my preference is "racist", you really need to get a life and grow the f*ck up.
