I thought the Prothean's voice was awesome. It has that distinct resonation.

Weird. Not Prothy's voice, BSN. I like his voice. It's probably safe to say other Protheans don't sound like him either, given Quarian accents. If Tali can sound er Romanian? Raan can sound Iranian, Reegar can sound American, Xan can sound Australian, Koris can sound British... why can't Prothy sound African?

Tali doesn't sound Romanian at all.. and I should know.

To my ear she sounds Israelic - but that could be because the similarities between Quarians and (antiquity to modern age) Israeli.

Why? because there is a rift between what I expected a prothean to sound like and what he actually sounds like so big that it catched me by surprise. Is that so unreasonable? It just doesn't fit my image of an ancient race with technological capacities that surpass most of the known galaxies.

Also why would I want them to speak in british accent? why can't they speak just plain normal american english which just is far less unique due its commoness. Sometimes making something less unique(plain) is the better decision.

That "Commandaaa!" also just made me chuckle because it seemed so out of place.

I mean whatever it's fair play for the creators to do as the think best but on the other hand if you distort the image that consumers have of a certain thing to much it might end up like twilight vampires.

People. People. Every one of us had some expectations, even if subconscious, on The Voice. The fact we like or don't like it is merely subjective. There's a big load of fans, it was impossible to meet EVERY expectation. Why the big fuss about it? Maybe they wanted it to sound more exotic, who knows.

It's like saying if you see an asian person speaking every r as l in a cartoon that the cartoon is racist (being asian myself).
Which I don't understand either.
In my example it's just feeding a stereotype which in the context of a cartoon is really no biggie, whereas I would probably be annoyed if it happened in a hollywood drama.
Context makes racism (at least in my opinion).

Also, it is with reason that people when they learn new languages are (most of the time) thaught the form without accents whatsoever.

I think that the voice is okay, but it doesn't really suit his character...it might sound better in the game, when you see him in action..that is IF he's even going to be in the game considering he's a part of the DLC...

Lol, if he'd had a protoss style voice, this thread would have been about that instead. Better to just leave the protoss to Starcraft, and better that Prothy has an original voice.

Because they're neutral.....this one just calls too much attention to itself like Zaeed's..a character that I never had in my squad cause he destroys my game immersion.

Just seems racist to me that the problem everyone has is the african like accent, which is one that hadn't been used in the game thus far. 

No, a New York or England accent would be too unique as well.....something more neutral would have been best from what I gather from peoples posts.

I wish there was a way to have a persistent message running on this thread that would explain to people that the accent is not Jamaican.

African. Perhaps Ethiopian. Perhaps Nigerian. Perhaps some of both? Maybe. Jamaican? No.

What I love about this is that it makes then feel more real. The Protheans have different accents. Vigil and the Ilos recording showed us this. I have no problems with the accent. Bravo, BioWare.
