Who is the VA anyway? I mean his name. And is he a black or white?

Well he has the accent of a native speaker. You should hear me speaking lol! I am told I am quite good at imitating the standart Holywood accent in a fluent way but if you had heard me you would immediately understand that I am not a native speaker.

That definitely isn't Afro-Caribbean by any stretch. It's obviously meant to be African, but outside sounding vaguely Western (there are bits that he sounds Nigerian, and others where he sounds way off), I can't pinpoint what it is. It also sounds affected, so his VA probably isn't actually African. If he is, he's likely using a modified accent.

I like the voice, just not the character concept.

I personally won't be buying this DLC, but I don't think that the people who do are being shortchanged or screwed by this approach to his voice acting.

The prothean, like Thane, would be using a translater. So why would there be any accent?
I think the accent is OK but conviction lacking.

Then why did Thane have a north American accent? :?

There's no such thing as a person with no accent. Bioware had to go with something, and they, for their own reasons, went for something non-European and non-north American. I don't see the issue, personally. As long as he sounds appropriately badass in my game, I'm gonna be happy.

Ouch... Some part are better than other. All the yelling part are crap while plain text sound like Eldar / Protoss from Warhammer 40k and Starcraft which are awesome so those part are awesome too.

Regarding accent variety, keep in mind that the Protheans as a single race were a galaxy-wide civilization that pretty much took up as much space as the current mishmash of races combined, and the only Prothean planet we've had a close enough look at for anything worth thinking about is Ilos--a single planet, on which we heard a scattered distress signal and conversed with a V.I.

This is to say that the Prothean civilization was certainly widespread enough that a veritable infinitude of dialects and accents could have sprung up quite easily, not counting however many may have existed before they took to the stars in the first place.

@Saints_: What, specifically, is your problem with the voice? I think it sounds pretty cool, and it's not like we've heard any other Protheans talking for reference. Vigil was a Prothean VI who was incredibly degraded after millenia spent on Ilos, so he's not exactly the best example.

Why do people keep talking about Vigil regarding his accent?

A galaxy spanning civilization only has one accent right?

One interesting thing maybe... the Jamaican Prothean says "the were muchu smaller in my cycle..." is he referring to the Reapers?

It's like Bioware hasn't learnt anything from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Now ME3 has it's very own Jar Jar Binks. As someone who was born and grew up in the Caribbean I find this to be highly racist and offensive.

Why? You don't hear Canadians getting offended every time Commander Shepard open his mouth.
