How was Miranda actually created?

We know she doesn't have a mother and is made from her father's DNA, but how was this possible? Even clones need a surrogate mother. Did her dad just err.. you know.. into a test tube and then mixed it with some element zero?

Obviously a bit of lee-way has to be given considering the game is an Sci-Fi over a hundred or so years after our time. We already can modify genetics and clones. Who is to say we can't in a 100+ years? Especially with advanced alien tech, far beyond us.

I thought she said that he made another X chromosome from a mix of different sources, but don't quote me on that.

I believe she said her X chromosome was created from her father's Y chromosome, which is odd, since X and Y have only a very small homology region, and most Y genes are sex specific i.e. they determine male sex (biologist here
). That said, it would be redundant to use her father's Y chromosome to create her.
Another thing is so called sex specific imprintig (female and male sex cells imprint genes differently - some genes are activated in egg cell, and other in sperm cell, whic in combination produces correctly activated genes in offspring), which would cause problems in gene expression (activity of genes) in new organism.
Third problem - shorter telomeres, which means that the cells and organisms age faster in artificially constructed organism (that's why sheep Dolly had many age-related problems and lived shorter)...
That said, I guess in the future all this problems could be adressed (in fact scientests have allready begun to solve 2nd and 3rd), except the first one (constructig X chromosome from Y; that is simply a factual error from the writers). After, I'm guessing she would have been grown similay as Grunt - in a tank... M.

Miranda's father is a manipulative jerk. Probably if she had a mother (even genes from female human) he would conceal it to further mess with her head.
Okay more crazy idea... Keeping her high level biotic abilities maybe her father used Jacks genes to give her those abilities.

Jack is 24. Miranda is 35. That is not even remotely possible, especially given that biotic abilities aren't heritable.

So, regarding Miranda, as Admiral Ackbar very well said: "It's a trap!"
