What is it about the class that makes it so underused?

The Sentinel is by no means weak. It commands the team with it walking-tank approach.
The turian sentinel is by far the most fantastic class.
Spam overlord with Avenger X or warp with Avenger X.

What's your view?

Turian Sentinel is amazing, and I use it every game. Maybe people don't use it because they haven't unlocked him yet, or its because he can't roll.

I must be doing it wrong, because sentinels don't feel particularly tanky to me. IMO the class has always suffered from a lack of identity and hybrid tax. Someone tell me how to do it right and I might play them more often.

Also, I'm really not a fan of Turian Sentinel's inability to dodge. Maybe that was just a bug though? I played exactly one and only match with that character, for that reason.

Just unlocked the turian variant and trying him out. Loving the accuracy and damage buffs that turians get.

As in dodging. Though he can roll between cover so it makes no sense that they can't dodge roll.

For newbies to the class the learning curve is a bit steep.
PRACTICE IT MORE and you'll love it.
I did.

Don't really mind if more people don't use him. It makes me feel unique.

Nonsense. This ambiguous "practice" I should be doing won't make my character more resilient to damage according to how many hours I've logged playing him. Tech armor doesn't really feel like armor to me.

I think some people just like having glowy holo-armor and it blinds them to the utter average-ness of Sentinel. Better to pick a specialized tech or biotic class and master those powers than pick the sentinel and be subpar at both.

sentinel is a very strong class. Warp and throw is a nice combo as human and as turian you can deal with everything due to warp and overload.

that turians cant dodge is a little bit unexpected but ok...

seeing a krogan rolling over the field would be a bit funny but a turian should be able to do so.

Anything the sentinel does can be done as well by an engineer, warp detonations excluded, and with a more useful class skill.

Personally I love my Turian sentinel. Especially with chained overload and light weapons. With overload at max they are good at crowd control as well.

Engineers do it better. Not trying to argue or put you down for liking your character, just saying this is the hybrid tax I referred to earlier.

I have great fun charging around the battlefield with tech armour on and getting up close and personal with a Katana with my human sentinel (no Turian unlock yet) :)

Headoneshotting an assault trooper while finishing another with throw is the best thing ever..

Turians not being able to dodge is working as intended, apparently.

But the engineer is still an overall better class. Between chain-overload and chain-shock on my drone, I can manage pretty much any group of enemies and the distraction the drone provides is way better for survivability than tech armors piddling damage resistance.

i dont run around with techarmor. i just use it to stun if anything comes close so the cd on overload is at 2-3 secs thats not bad i assume

Turians sentinels are deadly. I roll with a Mattock X and maxed out overload, just chewing through shields, barriers and CC'ing like crazy. The extra accuracy and weapon damage is really noticeable to me, as is the protection the Tech Armour provides.

Not a fan of the human variant, but Turian sentinels kick arse.

Haha I use the Mattock X with virtually all my classes but trust me the extra damage and accuracy combined with the overload factor makes Turian sentinels absolutely deadly, much more with a gun in hand than just about anyone except my infiltrator but with a much higher RoF.

I can't wait play Turian soldier if this is what the sentinel is like.

I like the human sentinel. I don't really care about tech armor though, in practice it doesn't really feel like it does all that much.
The Turian just feels underwhelming though. Overload is nice but that's it. Unless I'm missing something it feels like there's absolutely no synergy there whatsoever.

Havent got any major upgrades on it yet, but I'm really kicking ass with my scoped revenant for my Turian sentinel. And isn't overload the same in every class? If so, the engineer can't have any better chainoverloading than the sentinels.
Anyway, in the end it all comes down to preference, and I have'nt really tried engineer yet.

I love how eng. fan boys are all saying how that class is so much better. Does an eng. have 50% damage reduction? Does he get biotic explosions?

The point is, engineer gets the same overload + better synergy from the rest of its toolset. Chain overload + stun drone for distraction results in much greater survivability not only for yourself but the rest of your team, than what the tech armor provides.
