Just to clarify a few things
Gold has a lot more of the harder/annoying enemies (Atlas, Nemisis, Phantoms etc) spawning a lot sooner than on silver. for example on wave 5 you get about 5 Atlas' spawning at the same time
Those 5 Atlases always kill me so fast, I never get the chance to count the phantoms...

You should try wave 8 against reapers; those 8 screaming banshees send shivers down my spine. Seriously though, on gold you have at most 2 main bosses active at one time.

Well, I once saw around 50 Praetorians in front of me in a Gold game. But that only happens 1/100 matches, really

If you're counting Phantoms as bosses then you can have 6 at once. 2 Atlases + 4 Phantoms on Gold wave 10 and 11.

Yeah, the map was Condor, by the way. Even on that open map, you'd get cornered in seconds. Must have been the quickest Gold game of my life. The person responsible was probably going for a shockeffect, but he overdid it. My custom wave mods feature lots of bosses, as well, but you can still beat it and move around. That's a lot more fun, and it's still really hard to beat.
Ugh, that's a bad map for exploiting their chubby butts getting stuck.

As has been said, there's a cap of 2 on Gold. Unless you're on Condor, where anything goes if you're off-host. 3 Banshees on screen simultaneously is a semi-regular occurrence for me, admittedly only for a couple of seconds at a time.
