Is there any reason, why some of the unlock cards in the packages are golden instead of the normal blue? The carnifex for instance has a golden card, when unlocked. Same for the widow, if i remember correctly.
Just to emphasise how neat those guns are top of their tier?

I guess that shows the rarity of the card.
But I'm just guessing here, there might as well be a completely different reason.

As far as I can tell, it's rarity.

Although the actual rates don't seem to reflect that (40+ Veteran packs and 20+ Recruit packs, have 8x Quarian but 0x Locust), it's how they seem to be classified by the Veteran and Recruit packs. In theory, Veteran packs will always contain at least one silver or gold card.

This looks to be correct there are three card colours I have seen, Blue (Common) Silver (Uncommon) Gold (Rare)

I get blues in my last slot of veteran packs. Talk about terrible luck. I never get **** from the random unlocks.

hmm, seems like I'm too dumb to distinguish between silver and blue. Haven't noticed the difference until now. ^^

Is the Locust even available in the demo?
Still funny, that I got Carnifex 3 and Widow 2, but unlocked only 3 races so far.

Yeah I have the Locust III. It's honestly not very good. The Hornet is the Gold level SMG.

Really? I got the hornet, tried it once, never bothered again.

It's a pity. The Locust looked awesome :D

It still looks good! The clip size was reworked from ME2 and it's not as accurate. Honestly, all the SMGs are disappointing while the pistols are much better.

I think gold just means it is something you haven't gotten before. It isn't a consumable or an upgrade to something you already have

Flashing/Shiny means something you haven't gotten before. Lets call blue common, silver rare, and gold ultra rare.

I really hate this random unlock system. I can put lights on like 3 characters Ive bought so many vet packs and Im still lacking widow, revenant, krogan shottie, any drell characters, or an asari vanguard. After all this multiplayer and with 3 characters at level 20 I still dont have a top tier gun (havent even got the carnifex yet)

It's just rarity, for example, Salarian infiltrator, Hornet SMG, Widow SR labelled "gold',

You can't get an asari vanguard in the demo, only human female and drell. I only have the Carnifex so I'm with you. 3 krogan cards and no weapons really.

Gold does not mean ultra rare... for example, I've unlocked one of the adepts multiple times. The first time it was gold, the rest it was not. Gold just means something you've never gotten (as far as weapons and characters are concerned). I believe silver is for upgrades of the same weapon and/or character and new attachments. And I think blue is just for ammo/armor/power bonuses.

Disagree, the first time I unlocked the Locust it was silver and every time I have received the Krogan its been gold.

The thing that bugs me is that once you've unlocked all of the Appearance options for a race/class, you shouldn't be able to get them anymore. I swear to god, I've gotten at LEAST 8 Male Human Adept cards.

Gold doesn't necessarily mean that it's something you've never gotten before, my widow II was gold. I think that gold weapons are always gold, whereas the races become silver after you've unlocked them the first time.

After you unlock the class the first time you just get customisation options, right? So maybe these options are more common than the first unlock, which is why they're silver and the first unlock is gold, given that they're less useful? Weapon upgrades are more useful, which could be why they retain their rarity.

Every time i've gotten Krogan (4 times) it's been gold.

Could it be not just what you unlock, but also the amount of bonus XP.

It's been a day or so since I've played, but I remember getting unlocks with +50k XP that were gold, and ones that were not gold and only gave something along the lines of 12-16k.
