Have you tried reading any of the other threads?

Yeah, though the ones I've seen have mainly been talking about sniping and/or running off by yourself. Haven't seen much actual discussion about CQB.

You need a shotgun that has a fairly high rate of fire. You also need to max the cooldown reduction on cloak. Maybe some durability to your life and shields.
Then let the mopping commence.

It works quite well, at least on Bronze and Silver, with any shotgun. Never tried it on Gold, and I have no intention to, seeing as the lolPhantomandAtlasspam that characterizes the later waves is, in my opinion, dumb.

Spec for cooldown and using one power while cloaked of course, take a shotgun, run around using your power and shotgun

I've got human and salarian unlocked. I'm thinking Energy Drain might be nice to have.

/actually yes, It's how I play with my Human Infiltrator.
With maximum melee damage - and i use a pistol.
even without cloak you can do damage.
The only annoying thing I find is that enemies in ME3 fall over all the time when you freeze them.
and melee on the ground just fails.
I use soft melee instead of heavy melee. - 3 hit combo
Nemesis are best melee's - cloak and you can get rite up close.
If you do want to use heavy melee make sure you hit the enemy with a light one first - then Heavy.
If you go for just heavy, even from cloak they will manage to hit you back and take your shield.
On Salarian Inf - the powers are VERY good for up close.
The energy drain can be used as a simple stun - even if they don't have shield.
and the proximity mine is Brilliant, a Little hard to aim at first but when you get used to it...
it's an insta gib on Bronze.
Combine that with the ability to use a power from cloak and you can seriously wreck the combat floor.
cloak - mine - melee kill - pistol fire - cloak
rinse and repeat.
I was very dubious about the Salarian Inf when i first unlocked him.
But with energy drain being a fast recharging stun...best in class IMO

I play with a guy who uses CQC on the infiltrator. Shotgun and Melee and he can cloak every 3 seconds for 10 seconds. We never know where he is LOL

I ended up with a salarian infiltrator in of all things, my
bonus starter pack. In mass effect 2, when of my favorite
nightmare playthroughs was on a close quarters battle
type of infiltrator, so I decided to totally eschew any
sniper talents. If you look through the infiltrator
mass effect 3 options, it's pretty obvious which
talents you need for close quarters. At decision
points, you often give up a snipe option to get
the close quarters skill.
Anyhow, my salarian is now... 18 I think?
It's every bit as effective as a mass effect 2
cqb infiltrator. The salarian may be particularly
good for this due to energy drain. Also...
Random chance provided me with lots and lots
of tempest sub machine gun upgrades. So I went
with that. It's also much, much lighter than any
shotgun. So if you use machine gun only, you get
incredibly fast cloak/decloaks. You can easily
run into crowds, unload a clip ,reload, energy
drain, unload second clip, and re-cloak.
That sequence is devastating to clusters of
enemies. The fast re-cloaking is key. The thing
I miss is... Sniping is really fun when there's an
asari around. Maybe you need a couple of infiltrators!

I'm pretty sure I know how to build the CQB Infil, I was just wondering what other peoples' experience had been with it. The reason is that I'm a terrible shot. I leave the sniping to people who are good at it, but I still wanted to try the Infiltrator.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm going to try it out tonight.

It's totally viable, you won't feel underpowered or useless, I don't really know what else to say!

i have a salarian that has the prox mines at the max. pick whatever shotgun you want and spam the mines when you find an enemy group then just blast em with your shotty if they are still alive.

I play my Infiltrator as the CQC variety from time to time. I find it a very fluid and fun combat style, with plenty of decent kills, assists, and all around good work. However, that all goes down hill when I have a Vanguard or two on my team. Watching two Vanguards color the ground red while I'm still cloaked and attempting to close the gap is both a thing of beauty and a terrifying sight.

Tried it on human infiltrator and it's pretty effective. I imagine it would be even better on Salarian infiltrator with the ability to fire power during cloak and energy drain/proximity mine to soften enemies up.

Lol female inf + maxed out cryo + claymore (and no other gun) = lots of pretty ice shards everywhere.
The cryo regen ends up ending just as soon as you reload a shot -> constant cryo to shotgun fire.

I've been playing as a Human Infiltrator with a Revenant. It's not quite CQB, but it's been quite effective.

The prox mines hurt less then the sticky grenades, but they work off of cooldown instead of ammo so you can just spam them.
And they do quite a lot of damage maxed out, use them like rockets.
I use a sniper rifle but I'm sure this works with a shotgun too: even without the powerup that lets you use a power and remained cloaked, you can cloak -> Shoot (for bonus damage) -> Fire Prox mine (before the cloak cooldown triggers). That's how I tank down atlases.
Shield stealing is a nice "Oh ****!" moment thing when cloak won't save you, which I can see happening often if you go melee. And although its no overload, its still enough to take a lot out of shield/barriers to blast them away with your shotgun.

Tried this out earlier on and it's a blast (literally) , swapped my sniper rifle for a shotgun and went on the offensive . It actually made the Cryo power very wothwhile because it got me out of a few sticky situations . Only the 2nd time i've ever been the top player and i spent the entire round laughing , really good fun.

Infiltrator + Claymore is relatively fun. Just imagine Infiltrator + Geth Shotgun. Charge Shot + Cloak FTW?

Also, you end up getting a faster cooldown if you use a power while cloaked, before firing a weapon.
Basically, if you cloak and walk up to someone and Claymore then in the ***, you'll get a the normal cooldown. But if you use a power, like Energy Drain, immediately before firing your shot, you get the shorter cooldown PLUS the damage bonus. It's very handy for keeping those cooldowns low, doing more damage, and keeping your shields full since you may have cloaked before they can recharge.

That is how I started with my Salarian, even though I took power evolutions that would be conducive to sniping.
I prefer the Katana with Smart Choke and Heavy Barrel. But you can use a pistol of your choice as well. Also like the Mattock.
