I had a question for anyone using Satellite internet like Hugesnet or Wild Blue ect..
I'm getting ready to move and Satellite is my only option but they said with real time games, shooters ect.. there is up to a 1 second lag because of upload and download of using Satellites. Anyone here use Satellite internet and have any problems?? I do have a great plan with a company that just launched a new Satellite in January that can give up to 12 MB a second compared to the normal 2 or 3 MB a second from other companies.
Anyone use Satellite internet?

I don't think download speed will effect your lag, but I also think that shooting is resolved clientside, so you may be fine with some lag. But satelite is generally horrible for shooters...

I'm moving and I'm like 5 miles outside of Cable internet and the Cellphone tower type of internet is too far to be fast. The DL speeds for the Sat net is really fast but there is the "Up To" 1 second lag issue but the only MP I play is going to be this and Assassins Creed so it's not like CoD twitch type stuff.
Edit I called them yesterday and spoke to a guy who plays alot of shooters and has the same Sat net and he said as long as you are the host there is no problems even in fast paced shooters like CoD, Sydicate or BF3.

Satelite internet access can surely provide nice bandwidths but it will take the signal a lot longer to get from A to B (going through space and all that
) than on a cable/ADSL/fiber connection.
If the delay really is 1000ms, it'll be unplayable unfortunately.
P.S. If you host a game while on sat net ofc YOU won't get any lag, but everyone else WILL!

The reality is that light speed is too slow for gaming when you have to go 22,000 miles up and 22,000 miles back down. If DSL is available, it really is your best option for gaming. It'll give you better performance than satellite or cellular.

Do you have a better idea? or something that goes faster? But electricicity doesn't quite travel at the speed of light through wires it would through fiber optics.

your talking to a sales guy he is LYING
go to DSL reports read the reviews of Wildblue and HuesNet
they have whats called a ****** "Fair Access Policy"
these are daily or monthly caps and they are VERY VERY low
iirc Hugesnet has a 250MB PER DAY cap and Wildblue is 15GB a month
