Both hopefully but i tend to play alot of single player before i start to "get into" multiplayer, maybe second time around?

Well, yeah...but some people might not want to do one or the other, thus why the OP was asking what we would be doing for ourselves.

SP first, maybe coupled with a few Co-op battles (I intend to finish every co-op map once during the first game, just make the sidestories complete)

Side missions only, mainly because I prefer to relax into my game, MP does not permit that luxury.

It depends on the system. If by playing MP once all my Shepards are affected, then I´ll have to think twice about it.
There are some playthroughs I want to play SP only, so that the story really only plays out according to what my Shep did (or didn´t do) in previous games!

Me too. I'm delighted to say I absolutely love the co-op, something I wasn't expecting, and strangers can become friends when you survive enough waves/missions together. 

This. I've met up with some strangers who all 3 were looking for mature players to do the MP for missions in their SP. Added them as friends and the 4 of us have been surviving some crazy situations together, I mean you survive 4 space ninjas spawning a room the 4 of you run into for cover and you earn some respect for each other.

4 Phantoms in one room YIKES!

I've seen what 2 together can do to a squad, I'd shudder to think what 4 could do.

Ditto although mine won't be intentionally just 'less-than-perfect' but instead I'll be aiming for the 'worse' ending (if there is one). As such no side missions done in SP and no MP done until SP playthrough finished.... it's gonna be ugly I feel.

SP only. The fact that I've had a sealed pre-paid Xbox Live Gold card lying around here somewhere for well over two years should be enough to indicate how much I care for MP in general.

It's not that I hate the MP portion of ME3; I've seen some videos, and it looks pretty swell. I just like to dictate the pace of the game, and that's kind of hard to do in MP.

I'll finish all of the side missions in singleplayer, just like I did for ME1 and ME2. I don't use an internet connection with my Xbox, so no multiplayer for me.

Both! I did every side mission in 2 and I am loving the multiplayer from the demo. If this keeps up Mass Effect 3 is going to be one if the best games I have played.

Probably just SP for a while though MP may tempt me after a few playthroughs. I kinda like the idea of the side missions actually mattering.
