Perhaps they would have basic empathy for others and not mind sharing their video game love interests???  :o

I have to share my toys?  That's appalling!  Clearly I'm being mistreated and ignored now that everyone can play.

No no no see when you share an LI they're not actually your LI anymore. Even if you never have to think about someone else's playthrough.

The romance is lessened just because someone of the same gender can romance them see? Perfectly logical.

It's no longer special.

I fail to see how the romances are special to begin with since they tend to play the same with my renedouche or jesusgon but there you go.

"The gay community"? Nothing. And what do you think would happen if people started demanding Sam and Steve be bi? Since it's the end of the trilogy and all that?

i think people would be raging about not having a homosexual romance.  kaidan and ashley were obviously straight in ME1, they formed relationships with the opposite gender.  in my opinion, they should of just made all the new LI whatever they wanted

There is one thing from her background which would suggest she wouldn't, if you talk to her in ME1 she's quite religious so its unlikely she'd ever be interested in Femshep since generally the majority of religious people view it as a sin.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ash'es faith is brought up only once. She says she believes in a God, and it's possible to believe that God exists without being religious. And of course, it's possible to be gay or bisexual and religious.

While yes I believe it was only one cutscene in which she mentions it but generally when somebody mentions God/and faith, believes in an afterlife, & judgment day you could reasonably assume they are religious...but that's not to say she couldn't just believe in a "god" and could very well be what you stated. I was careful to not say anything definite in my post only to throw in something somebody hadn't mentioned yet.

EDIT: And yeah I agree its very possible to be gay/bi and religious...just not exactly common especially when most religions condemn it.

And it will also offend some (the majority) of Christians who play Bioware games for the Christian character with whom they attached themselves to all of a sudden say that she is going to be in a lesbian relationship.  And saying that religious people in the future will be okay with it is a bit of an insult to religious people as well.  The people in the future aren't playing the game... it is the people in the present who are.

I'm happy for the GLBT community for getting to be represented.  I don't expect them to conform to my beliefs since Christianity is about choosing to follow Christ and the teachings of the Bible.  I'm just angry that Bioware decided to misrepresent myself and other Christians in the process.  And yes it is a misrepresentation...the vast majority of Christians believe homosexual acts to be a sin.  And if Ashley were in fact bisexual then she could easily persue a relationship with a male instead of a female.

But arguing this is pointless since the game is coming out in two weeks and there is no way of changing it.

Seeing as we brought that up many many weeks ago, as soon as we heard about s/s exclusive romances and the general agree was a 'Who gives a $#!&" of honey badger proportions unlike the whining of the "straight community" that made the mainstream gaming newsites when DA2 game out (To all the supportive straights I know it was still a minority, though bigger and much louder than us)  Of course there are one or two who would disagree but they are few and far between.

Any more questions?

No it's weird. And creepy and pathetic when I'm playing renedouche. :?

@Nick: because all Christians are straight right? Totally. (not to mention Ash doesn't have to necessarily be Christian and the religion may have changed quite a bit by ME times).

i think people would be raging about not having a homosexual romance.

But there are still heterosexual romances now. So I fail to see the point.

Frankly, as a heterosexual gamer, I'd take issue with them retconning a gay character into a straight one just so more people can fulfill their fapcanon.

Personally I prefer characters having a set sexuality that's independant from the PC rather then them bending over backwards to meet the needs of the player.

Yeah, since we had an abundance of those in the last 2 games and now they would be taken away, OH NO!
Please. I think I can safely say the majority of us wants options in romances. More options for everyone is hardly a problem.

Like other people have said, they'd probably be decent human beings about it and realize that it doesn't really impact them at all.

Also, it seems like you're assuming that only people who are gay irl would enjoy a romance option that is available to both genders, but that isn't the case. I'm a straight female and I'm thrilled that my Femshep gets to romance Ash. In the end, it just gives the player more choices.

Probably used birth control too if we're going with that interpretation of christian. I think she's a smart enough woman not to try to have little Shepards running around. ^_^

And no before anyone says it I'm well aware Christians do not fit whatever narrow little hole Nick's trying to force them into.

Read my edit.

Plus she could be one of those if she's Christian. ^_^ (not to mention I've had this debate with Nick before. There are so many different sects of Chirstanity with so many different interpetations of the bible that trying to pigeonhole a fiction character into the sect that fits his taste is futile. ) Especially when there's no solid evidence she's Christian to begin with.

speak for yourself.  i know plenty of people who want say anything because they dont want to start a flame war.  personally, idc about s/s romances.  i dont like the idea of turning already straight characters bi.  espically since a majority of people will already have a straight romance going on with the vs

First off I don't know you so don't call me "sweetie".  Second off she says plenty of dialogue that indicates she is Chrisitan.  Disagree all you want but enough people feel she is so that there have been heated debates about it.  And don't have a dialogue with me.  You make personal attacks agains people or picture spam images to make them feel unwelcome.  You've done it enough that I know longer visit the Kaidan thread.

The day you prove they don't like same-gender will be the day I agree with you they were exclusively straight in ME1

You always accuse everyone of personally attacking you whenever someone mentions Ash has pre-martial sex and that you're playing a game where you kill hunders and hunders of people. Conclusion: You know your argument is ridiculous, tht's why you always try to escape answering it.

Or what?  Are you going to start writing insulting pms to me again?  Fact:  People associate Ashley with being monotheistic.  Fact:  those religions teach homosexuloity is a sin.

But like I said to the previous poster.  Dont' have a conversation with me because you just want to insult people.

She is likely a Christian but the game only says she believes in god. That could mean she's jewish, muslim, sikh, a deist etc.

Totally because the VS becoming an option for the s/s Shepard means they're going to dump your Shepard and then start screwing someone of the s/s.

Seriously it's not going to affect your straight romance with them at all. I don't know why you think it would.
