Oh, all right. So basically: "I really don't know why, but I was never attracted to you before, Shepard, but I am now." …………… “Because Bioware made me, because Kaidan died on Virmire, and we're now the same person, say the same things, and like the same things too." Got cha.
Bioware do a half-assed job when it comes to the VS....
Haha, funny. That's how two of my friends became the love birds that they are now, one was gay the other is 100% attracted to women, but you know what? love has no limits, he fell in love of his friend who was always for him who was everything he asked for in a lover, and you know why he didn't care? because feeling disgusted by seeing homosexual acts is a learned behaviour. He isn't attracted to males, his... errmm dick gets hard with naked women (so he's still heterosexual), but he loves a man.
Edit: Not a man, his friend.
What a beatiful story.
You really can't talk when you said, what you did about the DA2 romances.
After Mass effect 3, I’m done. Bioware can’t be consistent. Their next game will probably just be one giant orgy in Kirkwall, and you'll all love it.

Yes because all the (OMG 4 LIS SHOCK AND HORROR!) being bisexual = massive orgy. Because all bisexuals are loose and ****. Obviously.

Exactly. At the end of the day, only Bioware knows what is and what isn't "consistent to the character". You can't seriously believe that you know the characters better than the people who wrote them?Badpie wrote...

This. It's even semi-confirmed if you do the Garrus romance, and I doubt that any of the other alien LIs (except perhaps Liara) would want to romance a human of any gender if it wasn't Shepard. From a biological and cultural standpoint a human/alien romance is even more implausible than a s/s human one.Badpie wrote...
You know we joke, but I really do think "Shepardsexual" is pretty accurate. And if that's the case and everyone gets to romance who they want, I can't figure out what some people have a problem with.
This is actually a really good point. Garrus and Tali clearly never had relationships with humans before and Garrus even says it's weird territory for him, but because they have this established friendship and trust he's willing to give it a go if she is. Why is that totally plausible but someone like Ashley realizing she has feelings for femshep later on in their friendship isn't?

Nothing is being contradicted......... sorry, but there is no truth set in ME1 that forces Kaidan and Ash straight, especially when the original intent was for them to be bi by all accounts. They didnt' flat out say they weren't into a Shepard of the same sex, there were no indications of it either, and there were planned sequels. It wasn't set in stone.

I prefer this...I hate all this labeling crap.
"Well, Kaidan is gay in my game and straight in yours."
"No no, Kaidan is bisexual."
"Ashley is pansexual and had a crush on Wrex!"
I say...who cares? If you like the character and they are available for you to romance...then go for it.
I just laugh at how 'anal' people get over properly labeling sexuality.
You know we joke, but I really do think "Shepardsexual" is pretty accurate. And if that's the case and everyone gets to romance who they want, I can't figure out what some people have a problem with.
Agreed with both of you.
As long as players can romance the LI of their choice I really don't care.

Believe it or not, it sometimes works like that in real life, too.
As to the other part, it's a childish exaggeration of viewing the in-game universe from a meta perspective, which I already adressed so I won't repeat myself.
I'm saying it should be explained in the game. Why didn't the VS make a move before? It was all green lights for an os Shep. Even Kaidan made his interests known to a female Shepard. And Ashley? C'mon, if she had any interest in women she would just say it like it is. Like she did with her religion. She's confident enough to just come out and say it. But no, she never did.
Character reconstruction, is what it is.![]()
The VS could have just thought that Shepard was heterosexual. Or they developed feelings for Shepard during the years, not at the beginning of the trilogy. It's a different universe in which Kaidan is in love with manShep and comparing it to femShep holds no meaning because she wouldn't exist in manShep's playthroughs.
Games give us a certain amount of concrete information. It is up to the player to fill in what's not there with their own imagination. It's called headcanon and it is a valid part of the RPG experience.
Furthermore, love is not a rational thing. You don't go asking "but what are the reasons for you feeling this way about me?". You can't take one aspect of a character, like Ashley's religion, for example, and attempt to predict what all of her decisions should be based on that one fact. Sometimes people do unpredictable things.

How many times do I gotta say it? In Mass Effect 1 they were never intended to be bisexual.
Bioware can't stick to their guns. That's the problem. If the VS showed interest in the ss it should've been in ME1, but in ME1 they were not interested.

And how many times do you have to be proven wrong? It's been said before a few times that they were programmed and set to be open to romance from a Shepard of EITHER gender. The intent was there and they changed their mind at the last second due to design issues. Seriously.... you are ignoring whatever is presented just to push your failed point across.

I'm curious. What exactly is it that bothers you? How is it specifically that you think your game, your head canon is going to be affected if someone else wants to romance Ashley with a femshep or Kaidan with a manshep? Do you honestly think that the sexual orientation of a character is going to so change the essense of what makes that character that character?

Sadly for you renegade Shepard doesn't GAF about someone's sexuality. It's all about if they can do their jobs. And since they can no airlock.
Renegade Shep will shoot someone in the face regardless of sexuality for getting in his way though. And I fully support that.
