Looked through the file folder I just preloaded from d2d. Saw a lot of directx10 labeled files/subfolders in the directx directory. Why would that be, if this is a dx9 game?

That's the redistributeable directory for DirectX installers. It simply includes the latest installers for the operating systems.

nah just the installer files.
Interestingly there is a PhysX installed bundled in there as well for NVIDIA users...didn't think Dragon Age was leveraging any PhysX tech.
(though this could just be the norm for steam distributions)
