Co-OP Demo Characters carryover after March 6th?

There has been some hesitation in our little group of friends regarding the Multiplayer Demo. We do not want to invest too much time in the demo IF the characters are just going to go away once the full game hits the streets. Can anyone confirm whether or not our multiplayer characters will carryover to the full game?
