Oh boo bloody hoo. Cry me a river will you. "We used to love this company and now I'm going to nerd rage all over their forums because they don't do what I WANT them to do QQ".

Get over yourself.

If you want to get all "funny" with my video games, you should get out.

No actually. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not getting "funny". I'm not the one nerd raging and justifying bullying a woman because I don't like what she does. It's you who's doing it, so maybe you should get out.

No wonder people say that gamers are the worst fans ever.

It's my obligation to criticize ***** quality when I see it and it's also my business to stay here and protect the industry.

You're business is to get out and let me deal with it.

Well done, Bioware. Nice to see the company standing behind its own.

It's like they're commiting sudoku.

Sudoku? Are you sure you don't mean seppuku?

Sudoku is a japanese math puzzle, seppuku is a ritual suicide.

So leave the site, and stop buying the games. It's really that simple.

We don't want to leave Bioware, I love this company. Kotor is my number 2 favorite game of all time. Mass Effect is another one of my favorites. But I can see the downward spiral of their games and nobody likes that. Why should we just leave bioware to die when we can criticize things and hopefully get bioware to go back to their roots and make fantastic games again?

She's talentless and incompetent.

Totally deserved all of this.

She's just proof of how much Bioware has fallen.

I think she's talentless and an awful writer but she doesn't deserve personal insults and slander.

She does but I'll forgive her if she just quits from video games industry.

People don't have to like Hepler's writing but the attacks she received are uncalled for; no one deserves that kind of vitriol.

Its rediculous how far angry, insecure nerds will go on the internet just to ruin someone. I got about a million things that are better worth their time. For starters, not getting butthurt and taking something completely out of context. Next would actually be searching for a job. After that, moving out of their parent's basement. Etcetera.

Cry me a river or deal with it.

Oh don't worry, my eyes are dry as sand. Thanks for your concern though.

So I guess you'll deal with it?

I guess. I mean, people just don't immediately quit being ignorant ****s, so theres nothing I can really do to stop them.

Especially on the internet in their basement where they feel so powerful and mighty.

Why should I have to?

I'm not the other trolls by the way. I'm not saying Hepler deserved this, she didn't.

But I used to love Bioware, so I joined a Bioware forum.

It's not my fault you enjoy their hand-holding RPGs. Tell me child, ever play a CRPG? I thought so.

I never did understand how people could be judged on the types of games they play. You can play a game on HARDCORE GAMER MODE **** YEAH and you're still not cool in the real world. Sorry for not having the same opinion as everyone else =/ Bad me.

If stupidity could hurt you would be in agony right now.

Jennifer Hepler's writing is part of what makes the Dragon Age series worth my time. There are plenty of fantasy flavored games out there that have little focus on a cohesive story. Very few have realistic characters or complicated relationships. Almost none have any cost for associating with one group over another. I see the Dragon Age series as raising the bar for the other games out there. Playing a character that is not lauded for every action no matter whom is hurt in a game is bold. Having a P.C. that reaches the level of "hero" early and then has to struggle with maintaining that position instead of falling from grace has a lot in common with the rise and decline of sports and movie stars. There is more in these games for people than special effects. Jennifer Hepler is part of what is making the games great and causing it to reach a wider audience than many others.

As I mentioned, there are plenty of games that will offer button-mashing, and a vague "you are the hero no matter what you do" themes. There are few that actually lift the video game medium away from repetitive pulp and into art. This series is the first one that approaches being as good as a written novel. Part of that is due to the efforts of Jennifer Hepler. And I thank her for her work!

I don't understand why Reddit is doing this...maybe venting their frustrations that their child pornography finally got shut down? It's sad to see, anyway. Hopefully she doesn't take it personally. People like this wouldn't say a word if they saw her in real life, they're all cowards hiding behind a keyboard.

I applaud Bioware and Dr. Ray for what they have written. Kudos!

To help out the younger forum frequenters, here is some wisdom about life:

Most people disagree with you. That's ok.

When someone writes something you disagree with, most of the time there is no necessity to respond. If you feel it necessary to reply, do so after you have had a nice walk, a hot bath and meditated for at least thirty minutes. Yoga helps here as well. If after all that you still feel moved, write your post and go for another walk. Re-read your post and edit it thoroughly. Send it to a friend and accept their corrections. Then post it.

A fairly large percentage of posters on the Internet become idiots or jerks due to the inherent anonymity. That too, is ok. Ignore them.

Creative or highly educated people are generally articulate about everything and knowledgeable about a narrow subject. Respect chemists when they write about chemistry. Ignore their politics or opinions about relations. Actors know about acting. Writers know about writing. They may or may not have another subject that they are expert in.

Enjoy a creative work persons' work product. Ignore their personal conduct except as it affects you directly. By way of example, do not compliment Mr Harlan Ellison on his Canadian sf series, "the Starlost". Unless you are safely out of his reach and are wearing body armour. Given his advanced age, it's probably best not to mention it at all.

Comparing the writing of Baldurs Gate 2 was Biowares last good game. KOTOR 2 was a buggy mess and was still better written than the first.

Kotor 2 wasn't even BioWare.

That's what I'm saying, lrn2readingcomprehension. Obsidian wrote a better story than Bioware with a smaller deadline and George Lucas constantly yelling at them.

The only good part of KOTOR was a the I AM REVAN twist.

And that is YOUR opinion. IMO Kotor 2 had a really crappy plot. I don't really see the point of you being on these forums at all. Clearly you have nothing constructive to say and your nerd rage can be felt across the Northern hempishere.

Oh god my sides you're just hilarious today.

People would accept females in gaming if they didn't do the whole LOOK AT ME IM A GRRRL XD I PLAY GAEMS personality. Oh , and when anyone critsizes a writer or someone in the gaming industry who is female it's automatically sexist!!!

Feminism is an awful hypocritical thing.

Firstly, 'women', not 'females', please. Clinical terms can be dehumanising.

Secondly, I'm sorry you seem to have encountered such women. I personally haven't.  In my experience, the women I've known who play games play them because, well... They like games. Our experiences have obviously differed.

It may not be strictly correct to say that people such as Hepler are persecuted because of their gender. Rather, as feminism often asserts, her gender was likely a contributing and influencing factor in why she was attacked quite so viciously. We live in a sexist culture. As can often be seen with other forms of prejudice - such as racism - discriminatory behaviour does not need to be overt to be discriminatory. Sexism is often subtle. This does not mean that it's not happening.

I think this needs to be left here as a reminder for some folk:

Agreed. And if men think femnisim is only helpful to women, consider this: in a feminist society, men would have just as good a chance of getting the kids in a custody battle as a woman assuming both parents are fit. As it stands, men are disadvanted. Why? Because of the sexist belief women are better at raising children and should be the ones to do it.

That'd be a valid point if feminism promoted equality. We all know it doesn't. It's feminism and not egalitarianism.

But see, this what I'm talking about. This entire event has been hijacked by feminists when gender had absolutely nothing to do with it.

We'll this is absolutely shocking, I've signed up to make a small response on the situation.

For many years i've enjoyed biowares games and they've always had a special place in my heart.
after hearing about the situation wherea nice woman like jennifer helper was being bullied for what she loves, I had
to take my stance.

Bullying is awful, and the bullies in this situation went incredibly over the top. Phoning her house and tweeting her
incredibly nasty messages as soon as she got twitter, I've not heard of such things since high school.
The response made by jennifer was a sign of self defense, I would have done the same in her situation. I
cheered when the backup arrived from the rest of the bioware crew appeared and the large donation made to
help stop bullying. I love you bioware, if only more companies could be like you!
