From what I understand, a few years back, when asked what her least favorite parts of making games was, her answer was something along the lines of "actually playing the games" going ahead and stating that she didn't really enjoy playing video games, but loved writing for them. This is completely understandable. Different folks, different strokes. She does her job and, it seems to most peoples opinion, she does a pretty good job. She has created characters and helped with stories that some people love and other don't.
However, this somehow became a catalyst for saying how she shouldn't be in the gaming industry if she doesn't like video games, which lit a fire under people with too much time on their hands into calling her a "cancer" on the gaming industry, which lead to people threatening her and even tracking down her personal information to harass her.
Seriously, I honestly can't say it any better, so I'm just going to post this again:
The PLC wrote...
Jim Sterling from Destructoid hit the nail on the head with this part of his article on this whole thing:
"This is the kind of behavior that justifies the FOX News stereotype of the basement dwelling, antisocial nerd. This is the kind of behavior that makes the Spike VGAs look like the perfect gamer show -- because it's crass, immature, and it sports the emotional depth of a wet paper towel. That's how gamers look when something like this happens."
Mrs. Helper, I really don't care what you said. Your opinions are your opinions and you're not hurting anybody by having them. Please don't let these troglodytes get to you. And, Bioware, thank you for having her back.
P.S. Those that are trying to say she's complaining and crying simply because she's a woman and doesn't have a right to be in the gaming industry....do you not realize that it's 2012?
