Tell me, what's your favorite developer other than Bioware?

Fav devs? Bethesda, I tend to like most Square games never was really fond of the FF series though, Atlus, some others that I don't recall the name of. My game tastes aren't that picky. If it's fun I'll play it.

Don't even get me started on how casual Skyrim was compared to Morrowind.

So you're an Atlus fan? Imagine if Atlus got bought by Activision and turned into a FPS developer.

Everyone I would like to alert you there is a stray /v/ neckbeard on the loose, keep calm and carry on.

I don't understand how an issue about the performance and "bullying" of Hepler has led to a discussion about feminism. Would it be alright with everyone if we took this discourse back to the subject of Hepler and our feelings on this matter?

To discuss how "sexist" some men on this board are for disagreeing with the feminist movement or because they used the word "female" instead of "woman" is a bit on the side of silliness.

It's a bit appalling that some people think that Hepler being harassed is because she's a woman in the gaming field. It is purely about her performance. Now, I will say that some people are using her gender against her which is highly inappropriate. Some people insult when they are angry and come to baseless arguments.

This is expected.

To point at this and say that's what everyone is upset about is just a way of diverting attention from the real issue at hand.

Please stop doing this, ladies and gents.

Madlaughter, that's not ignorant at all. :] The term feminism (I hope I'm corrected if I'm wrong), I believe actually derives from 'feminine', not 'female', as it is a movement concerned primarily with gender and gender roles/stereotypes, and not biological sex.

I agree. It's never ignorant to ask a question. I like questions, and I'm interested on Pinkflu's comment as I have never looked up the origins of the term myself, though it makes sense, as other groups that defy usual gender roles (such as gay or lesbian) have a lot of the same issues as feminists do.

Not all FPS games are bad though, but I see your point.

I blame you for planning on buying Mass Effect 3 new, a game with barebone RPG elements terrible characterization and a ****** poor story.

*snip*

There I saved you 60 dollars.

Heh. Already read the script and pulled it apart. I am a proud member of the ME3 spoiler group so still buying the game anyway :P

Didn't like Morrowind that much so *shrugs*

Eh couldn't be that much different from the change from Persona 2 to Persona 3 so I'd have to play it. If I enjoyed the gameplay and the story I wouldn't care that much.

Abusing, harrassing and bullying people is not criticism. You do realise that by doing it you completely invalidate whatever argument you may have.

Sometimes it takes extreme actions to get your point across when a forum deflects any sort of criticism with "L0L U TR0LL!!!"

Typical "2012" poster who is a large supporter of cyber bullying and harrassment, you should go back to reddit before I report you.

People call Gabe Newell fat, nobody makes a big deal about it.
People call Notch fat, nobody makes a big deal about it.
People call Hepler fat, news posts on every gaming site, Bioware gives money to charity.

Because I can't. I still love Bioware deep down inside. I want them to change.

But they'll keep pandering to people who don't even like RPGs.

You wanting someone to change doesn't mean squat if they don't want or see no reason to change.

Who cares! Find a dev that will pander to your tastes and call it a day. BW aren't the only RPG writers out there.

The whole genre is in stagnation though. What should I do if a whole genre is becoming terrible all at once because of casuals?

I bet you're one of the people that actually like FFXIII

I liked KOTOR, I liked Dragon Age and Mass Effect. I also like the Witcher. I'm a huge fan of multiple RPGs out there. I don't why you think some of them suck. Gameplay too easy? Play a more difficult setting. Don't like the story? Skip the convos. Don't like the game? Return it. Don't like the company? Don't buy their games.
It's like a bad relationship. The more time you put into it, the more time you waste.

Right there with you courier. But I don't think anyone here cares. Helper now has a shield against any negative comment by claiming that it's based on sexism. So yeah, she's pretty much immune to criticism at this point.

putting up the difficulty is a terrible excuse. I want a real difficult game, not artificial difficulty bull****. Sorry.

Why would I skip convos in an RPG game?

I really can't even fathom why there are people supporting the mistreatment Jennifer has gotten these past few days. It's repulsive and absolutely disgusting.

There is no, absolutely no, excuse to call a person in their own home and tell them to kill themselves. NONE. Over a game? Over their own personal opinion? Over trash that was taken a long time? NO. What those idiots at Reddit did was called harrassment. There is nothing justifiable in their actions. They are not the leaders in a 'crusade' for the video gaming industry. They are simply delusional butthurt nerdraging bullies. I can understand passion, but those actions crossed a line from constructive criticism. No one deserves this intensive bullying.

You don't have to support everything a writer does, but harrassing them like that will never get your point across. You simply look like an idiot massacring your cause.

Thank you, Bioware for showing your support and the donation to the organization. I hope Jennifer feels better, enjoys the rest of her maternity leave, and never has to deal with this **** again.

But by taking extreme action you don't get your point across, you make yourself a target that can be dismissed as a troll. If you dislike BW's direction all you can really do is make reasoned points if enough people have the same POV then BW will listen, if you're on your own then its bad luck, and you should move on. Judging from the DA2 sales and the general reaction I'd say BW are listening to those who say something worth saying.
