Don't let yourself be put down! Maybe you do not like to play games but you love to write story's. What's wrong with being the way you are?
I for one loved DA2 and I know she had here part in it. Like we say in the Netherlands: schoenmaker blijf bij je leest.
I do not know how to translate it into english but take it from me it is someting positive. Something you like does not have to mean it is used for something you do.
(I hope this doesn't sound wierd)

I agree, litterally it means "shoemaker, stick to your last" But it would be better taken as stick to your guns, stay with what you know is right.
Bioware is right to stand up for ms. Hepler and to make the rule changes here as well.

For those asking, here is the destructoid article about it: http://www.destructo...et-222206.phtml
Nice title to the article .... as a woman myself it's a bit offensive.
Skimming through it now ... hm, I don't hate her so I am not part of the whole internet.
And yes, her comment was off the wall. She just stooped down as low as those who called her obscene names and personal attacks.
The age of the Internet made bullying worse. Heck I remember a day when going to school was where you were bullied and not at your home desk. But there are ways to handle it correctly ....
1. DONT stoop to their level. I will say the same thing to kids, adults and anyone else. Even to people who are Developers and Writers. People should report them through the proper channels, and Devs .. you have the power to ban then. Give them a warning, send them the EULA or whatever, and ban them permanently.
2. Haters are gonna hate. Someone will always be jealous of what you have. They will hate you for your ideas and opinions. They will make fun of your looks and clothes. I went through it my entire life and still am. But once you learn to accept that, love yourself and stand behind what you say so that all those haters become is just a dull roar in the background, you have won a major battle. This all stems from #1
Shame on all those who did attack her though. One of the MAIN reasons I stay away from these boards is the venom on them (heck even Skyrim's boards with their game being so impossible to play was more civil). But this is the internet ... where one can hide behind a name and a screen. I bet you most would be too afraid to come up and say half the things they do in real life. I also hope those people who did start a problem were permabanned. Really, I do.
Long post, but I felt I needed to say this. Remember, you CAN say things in a constructive manner. You can still get your point across just as well saying "I really don't think that quest was good, and it's because ...." than "THIS QUEST SUCKS! YOU SUK!"
Sorry this happened to Ms Jennifer, but girl, hold your head up and don't let what people say bother or slander you. Coming from one who is a big girl myself, unemployed, struggling daily, you have a LOT going for you and you went far. Be proud of that ... and the next time someone disses you? Just say back to them "Haters gonna hate" and walk away ... then take appropriate action by banning them :innocent:
BTW ... I despise Twitter. How much can you really say in such short blurps anyway? Like the next fad there ....

Hi Everyone
Below, please see a message from BioWare co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka in regards to the recent attacks on Jennfer Hepler.
Jennifer is a valued, talented employee who has been with BioWare for many years and we hope will be with us for many more. It is awful that a few people have decided to make her a target for hate and threats, going so far as fabricating forum posts and attributing them to her, and singling her out for projects to which she has not contributed (i.e., Jennifer is not even a part of the Mass Effect writing team). All of us at BioWare support and will continue to support Jennifer fully, and are happy to see so many people out there are also supporting her during this difficult time.
- Dr. Ray Muzyka. Co-Founder of BioWare; General Manager, BioWare Label; Senior Vice President, Electronic Arts
Additionally we will be making a donation of $1000 in Jennifer's name to Bullying Canada. Please feel free to also donate to this worthy cause in support.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported Jennifer and BioWare in this difficult time.
We love you, Queen of the Dwarves! Jennifer Hepler is indispensible and I'm glad she's part of the industry!
Jennifer, short and bearded though you may be, Orzammar is tres magnifique because of your writing. I think my favorite part of Orzammar was speaking before the assembly, talking to the poor beggar girl, and helping that casteless baby. I think you would've loved the Infocom period of computer gaming -- you can pause for however long you like with most text adventure games, it's all writing, and most are about problem solving and puzzle comprehension. I think there should be more grayshade situations such as in Orzammar.
May the cheese always be docile. May the Force be with you. Best of fortune to you and your family!
As to combat... well, it's neither here nor there, I agree with you. I prefer longer battles where one can pause personally, but I agree that the mass substance of role-playing games shouldn't be so much about combat. Spaghetti should have lots of red sauce (italian plum tomatoes, avacado, malabar pepper and paprika and garlic) and parmesean though! Keep in mind that garlic types differ. If you can get fresh green peppercorn for your pepper, use it. Otherwise it should be Malabar.
I am not sure how much spaghetti should be in role-playing games. Maybe Jennifer Hepler knows?

I'm sorry, I missed something here (I got here from the BW twitter feed). What exactly was said about miss Hepler that warranted this response?
Yeah, seriously. How do I know this isn't just another publicity stunt?

further than that bro. Goes back to comments made about a year ago.
This is why I support parents not allowing children on the computer. So they won't do stupid ****** over comments.

No.. Just don't even go there.
Jennifer Hepler has my support, I am glad Bioware are looking out for her and other publications and people in the industry are too. The worst element to the gaming industry is the fan(atics) and how they treat the people who make the games they "choose" to buy. I know it's not much but in support of Bioware and their stance I will buy tonight every single DA2 DLC even though don't currently own the game anymore. I also donated $50 to bullying canada too in support of Jennifer herself.

But I'm really upset about the idea, that a bioware employee try to force her sexual view (you should play homosexual Shapard, you should see some homosexual erotic moments -from Hepler) on the official forum. Besides she said that the worst part is play the game (combat, etc.). I fully understand the people who are angry about such opinions because we want to buy a game, not a homoerotical movie (or any movie).

And that this originated from a couple of faked posts on some forum.
On the other hand why am I bothering, people on the internet never check their sources before grabbing their pichforks anyway.

This infromation were provided almost all of the big gamer sites. Yes, maybe you're right I don't have time to triple-check all information I find on this sites. So, mea culpa if I made a mistake. But Hepler said some interesting things from 2006 till nowadays...

There is no excuse for what others did and extremes they took it. Gaming is a hobby not an oxygen supply. Their actions threats and insults were digusting so don't try to defend them. If you was one of them or agree with them then I suggest you take a step back gain some perspective on your 'optional' hobby.
