What I want to know is how something as important as a Prothean is not in the main game?

Meh, it'll still probably be great! Looks cool as well :)

That  is the 65  million  dollar question.

600mb isn't that big tbh. Arrival is 880mb, kasumi 900-something, and zaeed about 500mb.

@Starkiller by significant i mean its a huge dlc, 600mb. thats not a simple weapon pack or armor.

I didn't look at the size. But from what I heard he/she isnt half-assed like zaeed and kasumi. Maybe thats why its bigger? But the fact still remain that they most likely doesn't offer anything absolutley vital to the game. If they do then it is wrong

He has a lot of dialog.

Does he have any impact on the main game?

Surely bringing him to the Citadel would cause something interesting.

But then again I brought Legion there :D

But nothing absolutely vital correct? Just more insight to things, im assuming.
Again I didn't read the leak

Since it's day one DLC is there a chance some files are in the game itself?

The DLC squadmate has no influence on the plot whatsoever, his main function/selling point is first hand exposition and dialog.

Your game isn't ruined because you don't get him. You're missing a cool squadmate and a lot of lines.

You could say that about every squadmate in ME 2 (especially Legion).  We really only needed Miranda, Jacob, Mordin, and one or two others.  Just because they can make something DLC and charge another $10 doesn't mean they should, again, especially if this is something that was taken out of the game in the first place.

And to those saying "well it was supposed to be part of the CE..." please.  If that was their thought process behind it, then they would have been marketing that like crazy.

Now as far as spoilers go, there were several in here I was trying to avoid but were posted anyway, namely the amount of squadmates we'll have and a certain someone I never would have expected.  Thanks for that.

Not really. All those characters had specific quests on top of simply the one they were acquired in.

So did Zaeed and Kasumi, but they were still DLC.

What? Zaeed and Kasumi all have an impact on the Suicide Mission and their specific storylines have continuations in the third game. I'm saying that having the DLC won't affect the outcome of ME3 beyond the Galaxy at War/Readiness number crunching.

There is no plot thread where the squadmate gets some device for you to defeat the Reapers, or anything like that.

1) Prothean rumored for a while, knew about rumors, confirmation of rumors not so bad

2) should be in main game... the fact it is not indicates the importance of Prothean squad mate is low, which makes me :(

3) Design is horrible. Looks more like a collector than what we all thought Protheans looked like in ME1. I am disappointed.

In conclusion, because I am disappointed with this DLC from the above points, the disappoint will be less when I actually play the game, making the DLC actually more enjoyable when the time comes to play it, because I already know the bad things about it (Prothean as DLC and character design), assuming the actual context and presentation of the character is superb (which I hope it is).

SO, all in all, great! (hopefully) :)

Finally confirmed... There has been a lot of info. floating around. I have never questioned pre-ordering ME2 or ME3 collector's edition.

He has at least some dialog for the Citadel, pretty cool stuff too.

When xAssassinRawrx first mentioned this a while back everyone called him a troll. Then when people started saying their Gamestop confirmed it, people said not to believe anything Gamestop said. Too funny. It seems most of the rumors about this game turn out to be fact.

The demo's filled with his dialogues on Sur'Kesh and Mars...
So yes, there is a lot of chances that a bunch of his data is already on the main disk.

Well, considering he is DLC, then the game would have to be built in mind that he would not be there.  Here is some of his dialogue to show that I think he will just provide advice to you and the other races about what happened to his race during their cycle.  May contain very minor spoilers but not really...

Oh, thanks :)

I'm actually looking forward to this!

I wonder what class he'll be. Biotic, Tech, Soldier? Should be interesting. I'm expecting a Vanguard or something idk

This is absolutely preposterous. A Prothean squad member, a PROTHEAN squad member, DLC.

My respect for Bioware dwindles. If it was just another human like Kasumi I wouldn't even care, but it's a freaking prothean! How could they charge extra for something so important!?

My point was that just because something is not completely essential to the game doesn't mean that it should suddenly be DLC.  Again a Prothean existing is a pretty huge deal; the fact that the game can still be completed without it doesn't change that.  It having been taken from ME 3 to make more money from it is what disgusts me.   DLC should not be odds and ends that aren't entirely necessary to the game that are taken off and sold seperately.

If this is the same case as Zaeed where every new copy of the game came with a free downloadable code, well that'll fix things a bit.  It's still a bit messed up though: not everyone necessarily has an online connection to their game console.

He actually has a big impact on the story and that's all I'll say.
