This is absolutely preposterous. A Prothean squad member, a PROTHEAN squad member, DLC.

My respect for Bioware dwindles. If it was just another human like Kasumi I wouldn't even care, but it's a freaking prothean! How could they charge extra for something so important!?

Why are you assuming he is so important? If he was vital to the game then he would be in the game. He is a perk to those that bought the collector's edition. I fully support extra perks for the collectors edition, after all if you are buying it then you are paying more, therefore; you deserve extra content. Now if the extra content is absolutly vita to the game then i think its wrong. But i doubt he is and probably only provides more insight to various things

So, a living member whos species was very technologically advanced and who is from the previous cycle is not important? Nah I guess Shepard doesn't need him right? What would he know?

No he wasn't the many scentists of the prothean race that are long since dead that  are the ones that are important. This is ONE, SINGLE PROTHEAN.  Because the prothean race was advanced means that this one single person of that entire race must be a super advanced scientst god? No it doesn't.

Anybody noticed that this DLC is too big to be included in the main game?

Have you guys heard what he sounds like? It's like they gave Lenny Henry a voice-acting gig. If he says "beer-can" mid mission, I'll crack up.

except it does,  he must be a very special prothean if he survived the Reapers and has continued survive for all these years.

Will this Prothean character be like Kasumi and Zaeed in terms of conversation, just little quips that you stand there and listen to? Or do you get to interact with it in the same fashion that you would every other squad mate?

Stanly Woo addresses complaints about day one DLC here if you care to check it out. This is why the Prothean is a DLC.

He's a Prothean. A freaking Prothean, you know, the race that shaped the Mass Effect unvierse as we know it.

So if he was a Batarian it would be okay?

By the way, I didn't expect Protheans to resemble Collectors that much.

Why wouldn't it, Collectors are genetically altered Protheans.

From what I've read, he has a lot more dialogue than Kasumi and Zaeed, not only on the Normandy, but in some of th hub worlds (like the Citadel).
I think it'll be like the other ME3 squadmates in term of dialogues.

How exactly did they do that? Becaused they figured out the reapers exsisted? Because they stopped the keepers and gave us a warning? Not exactly super all powerful gods. Sure they were more advanced than other races have been come the time of the cycle but nothing that special. Besides you are talking about the Prothean race as a whole. Many scentists were involved in everything the protheans have done. This is ONE prothean, just one. If the protheans descovered a way to defeat the reapers it was the ones that are long since dead, not the one we get for a squad mate.

No, I'm talking about Prothean technology being the reason so many sentient species where able to traverse space. Like how humans found prothean technology on mars and it shot there technology ahead hundreads of years. The prothean himself is not important, what he represents is.

The one prothean does not represent any of that. The Prothean race as a whole does. The many scientist that developed that tech do. Not one person. Think of this in terms of humans. If we were all destroyed and another race was studing our culture and civilization. Then found out that one human was left alive. Do you think that one human would be able to convey great works in human history, from our great technelogical break throughs? No, they wouldn't. I know this is a terrible example but think of Fry from Futurama, if the one human to survive was like Fry would it make a huge impact that he was still alive? No it wouldn't.

ok doesn't this dlc just make him a squad member? Isn't he in the game regardless, you just pay $10 to get an extra mission and get him in your squad?
On a side note, there's gotta be a conspiracy going on here, I mean 3 huge leaks and all of them came from the xbox live marketplace. mmm suspicious.

So you have confirmation that he's not an engineer or scientist? Please do share a source. The difference between Fry and a Prothean  is that Prothean technology is still miles and miles ahead of the technology the races of the citadel pocess.

How is it a retcon when we had absolutely no idea what the protheans looked like to begin with?

I don't think it's a retcon. The statues on Ilos I believe were of the species who came before the Protheans, either the Arthenn or the Inusannon for example who the protheans revered as we do them.

The Protheans no doubt had records of their genome, especially if they were exploring genetic engineering. The technology in Beacons could be used as the basis for an imprinting method. From that, there's one plausible explanation for having a Prothean, and that'd be a clone imprinted with a copy of a long-dead Prothean's memories. But more likely it'll end up being magic chronostasis field handwaving or some such.

So you have confirmation that he is a scientist or engineer? Please do share a source. This works both ways. And sure they were more advanced but that is my point. The race was more advanced yes, But this one Prothean is just a single person of an entire race. Do we not have humans that can barely understand the things our scientists do? Do we not have humans that couldn't tell you anything what-so-ever about our technology? Why are the Protheans any different? Just because they are more advanced does not mean that every single person in that race knows everything about said race, be it science, technology, or anything else between.
