what a bunch of wieners... WAAYYYYHHH 800 POINTS, WAAA IM CANCELING PRE ORDER NOW......you all need to grow a pair...its 800 PIONTS!!! its not that big of a deal. its not like those overpriced COD maps they sell...and if you think its too much dont buy it....but its like 10 friggin dollars its no big deal...i swear these days this community finds every oppurtunity they have to **** about something

It is a big deal, it doesnt matter if it costs 10 or 100 dollars, this is finished content which should be included in the game. People arent upset about 800 microsoft points, they are upset about having to pay for something that, by all means, should be included in the game. It is NOT like the COD maps, the maps are not integral to your enjoyment of the game, they are a bonus at best, in ME3 we are talking about a character that is potentially integral to the storyline

Somewhat. I have to admit that I'm not that happy with the idea of cutting content and selling it immediately as a seperate item, even if it won't affect me due to the CE.... but it doesn't surprise me, as they did this very same thing in DA2. I don't really understand why CynicalBrit didn't mention it.

However, something else that doesn't surprise me and is very dfficult to take seriously is people throwing a major poody about it and 'cancelling their preorder'. That threat has been made so many times that its beginning to become a point of ridicule, particularly since the only person who'll be affected by it is themselves.

Riou - Legion was a HUGE lore event.

If the Protheian is anything like Legion, it'll be a huge gap in the lore that you won't ee until you fork out some more hard earned money.

I wouldn't care if was a random Joe dlc, but a DLC which involves a prothean, the one who would be a major player in the plot and theyre not puting that into the main game?Im sorry, but this is ridicioulus.Still im going to buy the game, because i still think that ME3 will be a success.

We should continue to let them know we are all very disappointed by these actions. We all love ME and it's universe. Why in the world would you take a major story line and block out that content from the majority of your customers. Makes no business or logical sense to me or anyone else.

This DLC should be available to all versions of ME3 and in it's place you should sell the sound track to ME3 as a DLC. I know some executive is reading this right now and saying something like "Come on guys, who is going to buy music from a video game?" To him I would say "If we sell our music in place of this DLC. I'm 100% sure our customers will cover whatever cost we spent to make that DLC and buy the music. Also, the 'good' press we would receive is worth more then any rare Prothean artifact."

Come on guys, we all know your better then this. Prove us right and do the right thing and release this DLC to everyone.

Good strategy to use the carrot instead of the stick, but I'm afraid you're offering it to a dead donkey.

Well.. this sucks. You make me sad bioware, this character is SO special and yet you make us, your devoted fans who will buy the game with alot of money, pay even more for the complete ME3 experience. I thought you were above that, but i guess EA has corrupted you worse than i thought.
This still isn't going to be enought to cancel my pre-order thought.. but i will not buy this dlc that should have been in the game since you guys have obviosly been planning it for a long time.
Guess i will "revenge" this (and DA2) by boycotting everything else made by you for now and in the future.

Ok so let me try to understand the perspective of those that are angered by this. You're complaining that the Prothean is integral to the game but how exactly? We all (for the most part) assumed the Protheans were extinct and would play no role in the games at all and yet now all of a sudden this surprise character becomes available and now the game isn't enough as is without him? In my opinion, that makes absolutely no sense.

If you weren't expecting a Prothean in the game to begin with, why is it essential now? Yes, he's part of the lore, a race that was believed to be extinct but what exactly is he going to add to the game besides some cool dialogue or additional information on his race? I don't know, I just don't see the big deal in this.

Legion was a squad-member in game though.

Both Zaeed and Kasumi both lacked full dialog wheel options, so the trend is that Prothy is a squadmate with flavor text.

Also, do you really, REALLY think they'd consign something that was actually relevant to your understanding of the game to DLC?  When they have no track record of it before?

Just because he's a Prothean doesn't mean anything. I'm fairly certain anything he could tell you would just be a personal spin on information you'd already get in-game. It'd just have his bias colored into it.

Anything he has to say is basically flavor text, what's the big deal?

To use a vauge analogy, imagine a writer who writes an entire novel, and then cuts out one of the middle chapters and sells it on its own, on the same day that the book is released. Even if theres nothing in that missing chapter that actually says anything, its still a bit of a slap in the face for any fan of the author dont you think?

Not trying to pick a fight or anything, just trying to give you a reason as to why some people are upset :)

Not many people are understanding why everyone is angry, we remember how user friendly Bioware used to be. Here is a link to a man more elequont than I. He can explain it far better than I:

BioWare is owned by EA. They deserve just as much flack as EA does.

Hi all!

We're happy to confirm that Mass Effect 3: From Ashes DLC will be available at launch for all platforms. For those of you who have purchased the N7 Collector's Edition (including the PC Digital Deluxe Edition), you will get this content at no extra charge. We'll have a lot more details for you later this week! Stay Tuned!

So the consumers who buy the Regular Edition and new, like faithfully as they are, are gimped out of vital content? Lovely PR but nice of you folks to bend us over like that.

I don't get it, people are complaining about spending 800 points on content that was included in the CE edition? Or am I missing something?

As another said, I've been a Bioware fan since before the company was Bioware.  Baldurs Gate 2 was a key part of my growing as a gamer when it came out; I was in my early teens and had never really gotten ahold of RPGs before, much less Dungeons and Dragons, and it taught me to seriuosly enjoy both.

I have purchased nearly every game that has come out from the company - New, not used, because I specificially wanted to insure the company got a lion's share of the profits.  Hell, I even bought the ridiculously overpriced 150$ edition of TOR not because I particularly -really- wanted anything in the edition, but because I wanted to help push out a bit more money for the game to succeed.  TLDR, I've been a huge Bioware fanboy for many, many years.  I have been the kind of fanboy that would make plenty roll their eyes and groan.

I have been steadily worried, however, that at some point EA would crush down on the player-loving spirit of this company and start to warp how they treated their customers.  That's happened, now.  This company has gone from being one that supports and respects its player base to one that treats them as cattle to be milked.

I've been wanting to play ME3 for far, far too long.  And now, with this, it seems that I won't be able to remotely consider buying the game.

Dear BioWare... WTF?!

You are telling me that after I buy the game, I need to pay 10$ more in order to don't miss such a colossal event as a Prothean Squad Member, because I didn't buy the N7 edition?! This is totally outrageous!

I know that EA is the boss, but I expect more from you guys...

I'd agree with you, IF that was the case here.

So far the only reason people believe he's "vital content" and that they're being scammed out of their hard-earned cash is that he's a Prothean.

We know jack about him (and no, the script leak doesn't count because it's not a legitimate source.  You can't verify anything in it, and several points from it have already been proven wrong) or what he signifies.  Everyone is jumping the gun.

Which hilariously, everyone did for the Multiplayer.  And look at the overwhelming positive reception to that.  People need to stop leaping to any logical extreme over something like this.

Witcher 2 was pirated five times for every copy sold and it has free DLC, maybe people pirate because they're filthy thieves?   Don't act like pirates are just trying to prove a point to the sinister corporations,

That's quite correct. Like I said, I can understand where people are coming from and I myself am not too keen on it, but I'm not going to kick up a fuss about it because at the end of the day, 'I do not have to buy it'.

That said, I do want to buy and due to money problems (as I'm sure others have), it's going to be an extra strain on the finances if I do take the plunge, especially after just buying the full game.  So again, I can relate to the complaints, but I'm not going to kick up a fuss.

I can choose whether or not I buy it. As ever, it is the developer and publisher's right to decide what they do.

Only reason I'm quite keen on getting it anyway is if the Prothean isn't a side character like Zaeed from ME 2 and due to the price tag, I wager he won't be.

Edit: Hmm, sorry, posted without noticing your post. It's confirmed the DLC only makes him playable? So, the dialog etc. can be initated, but he just can't be a part of your squad?

Not 'as necessary' for me personally then.
