EA is milking you dry. I'm not buying this game anymore, until a price drop comes around.

I'm not sure how relevant this is to the From Ashes DLC. Its certainly not a placeholder.

Matter of fact I think I'm more disappointed than anything else...its the same feeling that I have when I find out an athlete that I like and enjoy does something really stupid...

Isn't that just thread-based petitions as in people just posting "/signed"?CROAT_56 wrote...
Just FYI Bioware does not accept petitions but feel free to try. Anyone whose been on the Boards for the past two three years knows that.

Yet they couldn't find the time for basic functionality like hotkeys for the journal on the PC.

Calling out TB on not boycotting Deus Ex with their Tong DLC which was retailer preorder pacific, which you could not even get afterwards. A bit hypocritical.
That's sort of the thing, he's trying to cherry pick what is acceptable and what isn't. Weapons are but a character isn't, which is just arbitrary. What if this was a generic human mercenary, sort of like Zaeed, would it be acceptable then?
I think he was pretty clear. You could play DE:HR and not really worry too much about the tong mission. But ME3 without a prothean when you know one is available?, a Prothean, the race thats so intergral to the series and has never been seen before. It's a cheap shot from EA/Bioware, because they know that anyone invested in the series will almost definatly want it.
I have to admit, I'm with Kuei-Jin here. I'm all for someone exercising their principles, but I've got no patience for someone who dresses up their personal preferences as 'standing by their morals'.

The obsessed part. I figured that was fairly evident.JaegerBane wrote...
I really would love to see what on earth you consider hyperbole in my posts. Virtually every sinle thing I've responded to has been quoted verbatim from its source.
And at the end of the day, Mass Effect 3 is just another game. You're not going to die from not playing it right away.JaegerBane wrote...
I think the basic issue is that, frankly, there are plenty of gamers who simply don't care. At the end of the day, its 10 dollars. The decision doesn't even exist for players who're getting the CE. There are plenty of players who clearly have their issues with it, but you'll tend to find the majority of players will probably either buy it without a second thought or simply say 'What, you want me to pay money for this extra? No chance!' and simply stick with the base game. Either way, the only thing that will have any effect on EA's bottom line is a major boycott - and I'm afraid, given past behaviour, I find it unlikely. You'll probably see poor sales of the DLC, but not the game.
Yes, our apathy is certainly to be blamed for these developments but as gamers should we really be so apathetic about the medium we supposedly love? I see nothing admirable in apathy. Same goes for not taking responsibility for your own actions. Yeah, it's ten dollars but you're also effectively enabling this entire behavior by paying up. You're telling EA to keep on going. That's the problem. EA isn't here to be the moral guardian of gaming. EA is here to make money. That responsibility falls on us as gamers. If we stop giving a ****... well, then the medium is inveitably going to go to ****. Why would anyone want that?

Nope, I'll quote from another thread since everyone seems to be forgetting this:Stanley Woo wrote...
Usually, DLC is developed late in production by either a different team or by some of the original team who may not be needed for the main game anymore. Writers and some designers, for example, are most needed at the start and the middle of production, and less so at the end of a project.
Because it is a bonus and an extra, it has a slightly lower priority than the main game. The main game has to be content-locked and the game sent for certification anywhere between 2-8 weeks before the street date. If a game fails certification, whatever caused it to fail must get fixed, which means the entire thing must be tested again. The game must be certified all over again from the beginning because the game on disc has changed.
During the certification process, some folks can be working on a day 1 patch or moved to other projects (they're certainly not sitting idle). They could also be working to finish the DLC that will be made available on day 1. Because it is downloadable content, there is no physical media to manufacture and distribute, which means the DLC can be finished closer to the street date. It still has to be certified, but the process is much faster because it is a) not on physical media andmuch, much smaller than a full-sized game. Appearance packs and weapons are compartively smaller and simpler than story and character-based DLC, and people and effort are scheduled accordingly.
So, like a meal order in a kitchen, the team tries to schedule things so that everything is finished in time to come out together.
Kasumi had voice files in ME2 before she was released, as did Liara to tease at LotSB. It's called placeholders.
Thing is Zaeed came free on day 1, while Kasumi month later with improved graphics and gameplay.
LotSB thing as well as Kasumi, but in whole different level of improved.
Though LotSB was actually meant to be in full game, but it was cut since it didn't work out the way they wanted to.
Plus, some of this old files contradict with what we got.

I am not sure they might accept a petition that was mailed to them but I highly doubt any web based ones are accepted
It doesn't matter, they can't walk back from it without diminishing the value of the Collector's Edition which would be trading one problem for another.

Did you just compare game DLC to shopping for food, which is a required part of, you know, living IRL? I think you did. Not a strong point in your argument there.
Games are not necessary to live. So your point should center on something else similar - not a required part of everyone's normal life cycle.
Reductio ad absurdum[/i], you missed the point, the point is unethical business practice. I wish logic and critical thinking would be a required course in school, it is badly needed.

You're right here, actually. Sebastian only came free with the Signature Edition. A pretty sneaky move by BioWare under the premise of rewarding fans.Wulfram wrote...
It's not actually new. Sebastian was more or less the same, it's just the CE was free with preorders.

Rather than just boycott Mass Effect 3, a bigger thing would be to boycott ALL EA games, but that would be pushing it a little.
TB has around 620,000 subscribers, thats 620,000 people who will see the video. But, not all subscribers are active. Around half, will probably watch the video, but more people will come from the out side sources. The Yogscast liked the video, so its just flashed up on the homepages of all their subscribers. And thats near enough 1,500,000. TB is allied with the likes of Jesse Cox, who has 260,000 subscribers as well. Think of the numbers. Sure, some people are subscribed to all of them, some are subscribed to just two, some only to one. But think, if EA saw that that many people are thinking of boycotting their game, they'll have to do something.

But that doesn't the change the fact that it's not "cut" from the main game. The Prothean is OBVIOUSLY bonus content by virtue of being DLC. That also means that he's not relevant to the story. Sure, he'll probably give some very interesting lore tidbits that will make some mysteries clear. But he's not THAT relevant. Bioware has no track record of cutting entire story plot points out.
from what i here he shows up regardless you just wont be able to recruit him
