It was up on the Origin page for the CE briefly last year. It's day one so people without CE can get it.

OK.  It's no longer there.  Guess we'll find out on the 6th.

The game has 7 squadmates: Ashley/Kaidan, Liara, Tali, Vega, Garrus, Prothean (now confirmed) and Mr X. We know from the leaks that Mr. X is on the main game so the only possible day one DLC character is the prothean.

I didn't know what the bonus character and mission I was getting in the collectors edition, but thanks to the subject title of the thread, that was spoiled for me. Thanks again...

the reason why the collectors look the way they do is because they were indoctrinated protheans wich in fact changed there genetic structure

i also commented on the whole ilos statue deal wich was revealed in the me3 script

Yeah, I know that they look they way they do now due to extencive genetical modifications by the Reapers. But on Ilos you see statues (of them I thought) with a totally different apperance. Even the codex entry about Protheans has a picure of one of the statues on Ilos, so I kinda figured that was their look. But as long as it's explained I guess

If it's officially announced it's not considered a spoiler. It won't be long before Chris posts the official announcement.

Statues can always be false, or statues could have been in fact a different species and people just thought they where prothean. Also prothean can in fact not be a race but a group of different aliens. We will know when ME3 comes out

I'm excited to use the Prothean, as long as they have a damn good reason for it being around despite there only being 12 members left of the race stuck on the Citadel 15,000 years ago, and I'm giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt that they've got a good enough explanation.

What sickens me though is that... you'd think finding out a member of a long thought-to-be-extinct species would be a HUGE part of the game, and not DLC. It'd be like if Legion had been DLC; a gimmick to get you to buy it and play with a friendly Geth. I tried to ignore the rumors and write them off as nothing more than that, as having a Prothean as a DLC seemed like such a money-grabbing gimmick, but... it's disappointing to find out it was true after all. Not that I'm not excited to play with a Prothean mind you, just that they stooped so low.

The Prothean squadmate was revealed in The Art of Mass Effect Universe. Not suprised he's in From Ashes. Though I am surprised MS leaked this now. Now people who get there early copy of the game can now purchase dlc.

well didnt liara say in me1 theres barley any evidence of the protheans to where maybe people just assumed the statues were them?


all i can say is expect a cool suprise in me3 and no i wont say what it is because i want people to be suprised with one thing that hasnt been spoiled

Here is why I think this may be a mistake and not an official release.

Lack of advertisement. Bioware and Microsoft know how big of a deal Mass Effect 3 is and I would assume that they would do everything in their power to promote even a DLC that can't be played yet. There is no announcement from either source about the DLC and the only people who know it exists are the people who either found it or are reading about it here.

You would think they would want to make the maximum profit off the DLC and banking on people's excitement about the game would do just that.

My prediction: Someone messed up.
