I already know from leaked script.
It's a race that came 1 cycle before Protheans.
They were also mentioned in one of ME2 planet descriptions, so check Wiki and you'll have 50/50 change to guess which one.

OT perhaps, but how come the Prothean resemble a collector so much? From what I remember, the Prothean statues on Ilos looked more like "squid faced" husks :s
I stayed awhile to figure it out. Either retcon, those weren't them or he is in semi stages of becoming a collector.
:sigh: i touched on this before from the me3 script.
the reason why the collectors look the way they do is because they were indoctrinated protheans wich in fact changed there genetic structure
i also commented on the whole ilos statue deal wich was revealed in the me3 script
Yeah, I know that they look they way they do now due to extencive genetical modifications by the Reapers. But on Ilos you see statues (of them I thought) with a totally different apperance. Even the codex entry about Protheans has a picure of one of the statues on Ilos, so I kinda figured that was their look. But as long as it's explained I guess

Well thanks for not spoling it. Looking forward to it!
OT: Can't for the love of Jebus understand why they would release something with this kind of impact on the lore as a DLC. Pretty sure it will be awesome nontheless:O

Yes im on about the pic of the squad guy. even if i purchase something off the mp i dont want to see one of the main points shown in screens, i want to experience it as i play, especially if youve been playing since me1 and got really involved. Thats just me though im a tad wierd
So when you bought mass effect 2 you asked the clerk at the shop to remove the cover in order to avoid seeing Miranda's face (One of the few occasion you get to see it instead of other parts of her body).

No, the statues were meant to be Prothean, and so were the visions. That's why they resembled each other. BioWare claims they designed the statues to be ambiguous, to basically make room for a retcon, which they did. Development-wise however, the statues were Protheans during ME1 and ME2. The Art of the Mass Effect Universe basically says as much.
The Prothean in ME3 was designed backwards from the Collector's in ME2.
So a retcon.

Don't know. I'm thinking he would be like Zaeed or Kasumi. It would be badass to have a Prothean on your Squad for the entire game.

I have no idea if its like talis was in DA2 ( just for set mission ) or for full use. Will have to wait for game release to know. You never know when you load it up it may just be a massive Rick Roll clip just to screw with us

Yeah, I'm still not happy that a character this central to the lore of ME is DLC. This doesn't bode well for the direction of gaming in general, let alone EA/BW. I mean your making people pay for a character that just from the perspective of ME lore may be the most important behind Shep. It's kind of sad actually. DLC should be be things like Awakening, or The Fallout 3 stuff, not stuff like this.
Bad Form BW/EA!
well i got him in my ce soif people didnt buy one than hey at least they have an opertunity to still get him via 10 bucks.
i mean seriously can you imagine the outrage by fans if it was only ce exclusive?
just be happy with what you get man becaus eit could always go that route

For the Goddess´ sake, please don´t talk about the leaked script! Damn, I might go off the radar sooner than expected .... (good think I only read the first sentence. And yeah, you posted it was from the leak, so it´s my fault for reading it. But still -.-")

the Prothean is confirmed as DLC and not main game. I knew
it.
bought that it was an "outdated info" and not another accidental leak
I
know.Leaked in June,Leak from the internal beta, They showed a portion
of him in a trailer a couple weeks ago,Leaked from the art book and now
Microsoft leaked.Believe!!! Ahh yes, that screw up for the CE
description was a "typo" Labeled The Prothean.
So that´s where the "rumour" came from? I forgot.

Still, this really isn´t okay. I really am getting more and more disappointed with BioWare.
um its not biowares fault. if anything its microsoft.
they leaked the beta early ( not bioware)
they also leaked this dlc out early
so take your ager on ms
BioWare should make clear that something like this shouldn´t happen again and they seem to fail to do so. And yeah, Microsoft seems to fail pretty much as well.
What I have to wonder about though, is that they sell the Art of Mass Effect before the game´s out. I mean, wtf?! is up with that. Nowadays we have the freaking internet, spoilers are inbound (though I stayed clear from most of em).

Ofc not you silly boy but when the pic/banner says prothean squadmate it kinda gives it away, as with miranda on the cover i had no idea who or what she was , but with the lore behind the protheans and back-story already known unlike miranda , it can ruin it

I think most of us will have seen the concept art which is pretty bold but there are rumored leaked audio clips that suggest that the voice-over actor might speak with a think african accent which will will not only stump a lot a people but it has huge implications that many people will HATE.
This is all speculation but if this is true it suggests that Protheans don't sound like Africans; but rather the decendants of the first humans sound like Protheans because along with studying and intervening in our developmental evolution they gave them and by extension us language.

and/or you intentionally lied to us?
You guys absolutely deserve all the flaming you are going to get for this.
1. Minor sidequests as dlc is one thing but huge parts of the main story line is absurd and crosses the line into abuse of your customers.
2. You intentionally lied to us. So please explain why customers should ever trust another thing bioware ever says. Between outright stating there would not be multiplayer and then outright saying the dlc squadmate was scrapped. How the hell do we know when you are telling the truth.

in order to be a retcon it had to have been SPECIFICALLY, OFFICIALLY announced. Which the statues never were. While I agree the statues were probably at first meant to be the Protheans, it was never specifically said by bioware that they were so not a retcon. Unless the art book says that they were Protheans speciafically (i don't have the art book)GnusmasTHX wrote...
