 Is there any?

Even on my Infiltrator, i only carry a sniper rifle, if something is more than 10 yards away, i use the rifle, if they are closer, i sprint in and melee.

I haven't seen any reason to use anything other than my carnifex on my Vangaurd and I don't even use the weapon I carry on my engineer. Or well I do, that is a lie...I just don't use it much.

I only ever play Silver and Bronze, Gold seems like it would require a high amount of gear/co-ordenation that random matching just doesn't carry with it.

Maybe there is some advantage to carrying more than one weapon I'm not seeing in the higher difficulty brackets?

"lol l2p" comments from CoD rejects will be ignored. State your claim and back it.

I very rarely carry anything more than a single weapon on any character, certainly not on any that require rapid power use.

I do, because I might run out of bullets. I run with pistol and Avenger every setup. I just found that shotgun slows me down too much as Vanguard. Those two guns keep me 200%.

I keep a pistol on me as secondary to my assault rifle since in many cases I've been surrounded and running to an ammo bin would've gotten me downed.

I can't say I've found any either, OP. Caster classes benefit from minimal weapon weight, and even my Infiltrator gets by on shotgun alone most of the time. It's also not like clips are much of a problem, there's boxes all over the place and you get a refill after a wave.

Maybe a Soldier lover might have an opinion and reason as to carry two.

As a Krogan soldier I run with a shotgun and scoped pistol, so I can take out a few assault troopers with long range headshots before I charge in and blast/melee the rest of them.

I find most classes don't need to cast that much compared to the versatility of multiple weapons.

I'm all too familiar with being an Infiltrator. I've tried running around with just a bolt-action rifle and using my melee as a CQC option, but it didn't feel right and I found myself staying in the open way too often without a fresh clip loaded, so I use the Predator as an emergency sidearm.

As a tanking sentinel I carry the widow and an avenger. Otherwise I just have one weapon.

With there being about 4-5 ammo dumps on the maps and having more emergency reloads than I will ever use from buying packages I have yet to find a reason to carry more than 1 weapon.

With my Krogan, I use a revenant and a katana (shotgun bayonet + Krogan = BEST THING EVER). With everything else, I use only one gun. Soldiers make up for few/no powers with more/bigger guns.

As a Turian Sentinel, I usually carry about a sniper and an SMG. I use the SR for anything that I could one-hit with a headshot or whatnot (mainly against guardians/nemisis) and the SMG for anything that moves really (especially Phantoms...) That and the only powers I ever really use are overload and Holo Armour (warp being the third, but it is rubbish against must things for me)

Slightly off topic question, will the weight of Shepard's weapon affect her cooldowns? Or is this just a multiplayer thing?

Ah, there it is.

Soldiers' lack of power utility is the incentive.

Unless I'm a krogan soldier. In which case, I just carry around a Revenant or Scimitar (with a bayonet) while spamming long-range or behind-cover targets with Carnage.

I carry a M-5 Phalanx (Primary) and a M-12 Locust (backup) on my engineer. still get +190% Recharge Rate on my powers and I use both weapons, Though the Locust mainly for larger targets like an atlas if I'm out of missiles.

Silver and Gold I use a Shotgun +Avenger/Phalanx on my Salarian Infiltrator, and a similar setup on my Engineer.

Bronze? I just use whatever sounds fun at the time.

I wondered why I couldn't spam singularity in the second part of the game like I could at the start. Didn't know about the weight system until I played the multiplayer (and I didn't even figure that out until playing a few games with crappy cooldowns).

Same for me.

My Asari Commando Adept has an M7 assault rifle and a pistol. I don't need to draw it all that often, but it can be a lifesaver. Maybe I'll give it a try without tonight just to see if she really needs it.

Back when I still played the Human Vanguard, I kept a scoped pistol to deal with Guardians I considered outside my Biotic Charge "comfort zone" (-> vicinity to rest of the team), as their shields made them immune to my assault rifle.

My Infiltrator uses a Widow and an SMG. Could probably do without a sidearm, as even with only having 10 shots for the sniper rifle I find the sniper's playstyle keeps me fairly close to ammo crates almost all the time. On the other hand, there's so many enemies where a Widow round would just be wasted. Not to mention that a hi-RoF SMG is so much more handy than a slow bolt-action AP cannon when some Phantom slips through our lines and wants to say hello.

Generally, sidearms also really come in handy during extraction when the team goes into "final stand" mode and starts to unload everything they have. More of an issue when you find yourself playing in a 3 man group rather than 4, though.

I carry two pistols with my Quarian Engineer, the machine pistol that I can't remember the name of at the moment and the Predator. Since they're both extremely light weapons, they don't impact my cooldown times much and I have a backup weapon in case I run out of ammo (and since the Predator has a scope on it, it's better if I need to kill something at long range).

I only use one weapon on all my characters so far. On my Turian Sentinel I find that being able to Overload quite often comes in handy. I have a Scoped AR that I use on pretty much all my characters. My Human Soldier is Grenade and Adrenaline Rush specced, just carrying the one AR, I'm pretty much always in Rush mode.

I haven't figured out my Vanguard too well, but the Scoped AR for mass power usage seems to be the ticket there as well. I haven't gotten very lucky with unlocks as of yet.

I play a lvl 15 Infiltrator and I use the widow and a heavy pistol with enhanced damage and a scope for additional sniping rounds and even on silver it kills most enemies with one hit to the head and I then utilize the widow for those I can't kill in one hit with the pistol.

Because your sniper is not omnipotent, and if you try to use it as if it is, you will die. Only the Viper and Incisor are good for hipfiring (not joking, 20% of my kills with it are from hipfiring), carrying a second weapon gives you a second fighting niche. If you get ousted from your spot, then chances are that you're not going to be able to use your weapon at its intended range. Having a backup essentially gives you a nice relief of when you end up outside your comfort zone and in trouble. If you don't want to affect your precious cooldowns, carry a damn predator with you, it weights next to nothing and if far better tactic than trying to punch your enemies.
