Zaeed and Shale were understandable incentives for new releases. Day one paid DLC is just ridiculous.
Like Warden's Keep?
Thinking of waiting for a few months now. Will likely get it used -- Hope the multiplayer is still fun by then.
IIRC MP only works once per copy, so you'll have to get a used ME3 copy from someone who didn't play MP.

Didn't realize that -- Shame that this has been going on for longer than I recalled.AlanC9 wrote...

I get pretty much every weapon, and all the alternate appearances, along with a soundtrack and some other stuff, so its pretty good.
Also, given how much I played ME1 and ME2, ME3 is going to be worth a bit more than most games anyway so I don't mind paying a little extra. I picked up Human Revolution for £10 about three weeks ago, so I don't mind paying a little more for ME3 now.

And people claiming that it's not a big part of the game is also asserting it without having played the game. You can cut away lots of parts of lots of games and still have it be "complete". Take ME2 -- see how many non-DLC characters you can remove while still preserving the main plot. I'd say quite a few of them, but those characters still are very important to the game.
In addition, if the Prothean isn't a big part of the game, I'd say that it'd be doing everyone a huge disservice. A living speciman of what is considered to be an exctinct civilization that created the basis of technology for all starfaring races should be considered one of the biggest discoveries of all time.
Well, in that case it becomes a question of what people actually mean by an 'incomplete product'. I think you'll find that a game that can be started and played to completion would realistically be considered by any sensible assessment to be 'complete', and as far as everyone is aware, that can be done without the purchase of the DLC. Hence it doesn't really fit the 'incomplete' definition.
If you're saying that it will be an important addition then I'd obviously agree with you, but thats the point behind a DLC - it is an addition to the core game. The addition of LotSB made an important addition to the lore - hell, you unravelled the mystery of the greatest info broker in known history, you even influenced the change - but it made no difference to the endgame. You can get into a comparison about what differentiates a good and bad DLC if you wish, but the bottom line is that regardless of how important it is, if it isn't required to finish the game then it can't realistically be considered vital to its performance.
Many people on here have likened the situation to buying a car and having to purchase the wheels as an extra. Given a car simply won't function without wheels, that analogy is clearly not accurate. Its more like the full extras package on the same car. What Bioware have done here have effectively left out the mention that the full extras package costs extra until the last minute. I can understand annoyance at that, what I can't understand is why people demand it for free due to that.
To put it another way. Pretend that before this whole Prothean DLC was announced, I told you that you would discover a living Prothean squadmate in ME3. If I asked if you thought this Prothean would play an important part in ME3, you'd probably say yes.
Well, this clearly isn't a very accurate analogy as DLCs have virtually always been extras, so leaving that detail out - that the Prothean is a DLC - is bound to elicit a different response. Its a bit like saying do you think its likely that a specific famous actor is going to be in a given film, then mentioning later the famous actor you had in mind is dead. All you've demonstrated there is that leaving out details from a question increases the chance you're given a wrong answer.

His existence won't -- can't -- change anything important. Shepard's got to be able to win this war whether he exists or not.
And that, in once sentence, sums up why the entire argument of 'its not a full product' physically can't be right. Eloquently put, Mr C9.

Overall there DLC is often superficial armor apperance of the char or companions and such nothing game changeing, there is ofcourse the different extra chars and such in some of the DLC's that can have a gameplay effect those might be a problem for some people not too have for free since they dont like too pay extra for content they think they are intitled to have from day 1.
Me im just happy for all the extra content and as long as the CE does not cost more then it does im fine with the price of it, get a nice case for the game and artbook and such and the free DLC so it is all good.

Kind of bumming I couldn't find a CE for the 360 version as well for the other more extraneous in-game bits since my legacy main Shepard I've carried through from ME1 is on the 360 version, but the physical, out of game extras were more the motivating factor for the CE for me. You snooze you loose...

Just because I go that extra mile for BioWare, doesn't mean it's okay for them to rip off everyone who does not do so. Cutting parts of the game out I already disliked in ME2 but now they are doing it again and even worse in ME3.
BioWare, I definitely hope you read this. I haven't been online in ages, when I was I usually didn't even post anything. But now I've logged in specificly to let you know that I'm deeply disappointed in you. You should try to enhance the experience of the gamer, not cut it down to sell it seperately.
I've always thought of you as one of the top developers, but now I really see you as that extremely talented developer that creates amazing games and wants us to sell our children for it.
Charge a regular price and don't do disrespectful things like this. Never forget who bought all those games from you. Your fans. Way to treat us like garbage sacks full of money.
I'm going to cancel my pre-order. I know what you're thinking: 'Ha, you're already hooked sucker. You have to buy our game'. Well, yes. That's true. So, I'm going to either get your game used or pirate it. Haven't decided yet.
In all honesty, this is the first time I'm absolutely furious with you guys, so I think I'll get it used and pay the 10 bucks for the DLC. That way, I'm probably out around the same amount of money, but at least it went to a better place. It's fitting I think: you deserve to be punished for this.
If extreme milking like this keeps going I'll see to it you never get another penny from me ever again.

I logged in specifically to vent my steam. I've always supported BioWare. I've never bought any of their games used, mostly went for special editions and loved every game they put out. As such, I already had the N7 Edition pre-ordered but I'm torn now.
