Figured we could use a tips n tricks thread to help peeps in multiplayer. I'll toss in a few of my own:

-Work as a team, at the very least if you are going to break off from main squad do so with a partner. That way your abilities can complement each other's and one player can always revive the other if someone takes a serious hit. Players going off solo in all directions will most likely lead to a failed mission.

-Stay out of Silver level or higher unless you are a level 14 or higher class. By constantly needing to be revived you are a liability to your team at Silver and Gold levels.

-Keep your distance from turrets and Phantoms. Same with Atlases though behind an Atlas I assume is relatively safe until it turns around on you.

-Melee is usually the best way to deal with any enemy that gets too close to you. Biotics or the fire Tech power can be handy to at the very least get them to back away.

-Don't try and revive a player surrounded by enemies unless you are absolutely sure your shields will hold out long enough. A downed player in front of a turret or Phantom is not worth reviving until the threat is removed. I've seen squad members pile up dead in front of a turret, not fun. Do try and at least keep the enemy from stomping on a downed squad member.

-Not sure about the other classes but Sentinels have rockets (if the pack they bought has them included) and they are a great way to deal with hard to kill enemies and turrets. One rocket takes out an Atlas or turret.

-Flanking the enemy is always a good idea, especially against heavily armored foe. Two teams of two catching the baddies in a cross fire.

Feel free to add your own tips n tricks.

Here's one -- the quickest way to gain xp (and in my opinion the easiest way) is for the entire team to make it to the extraction point. I'm not saying that you need to stay there for the entire duration (especially because of the weak cover), but it's a good idea to head back there when there are 30 secs or less to go until extraction.
More XP = faster leveling, and that means better abilities.

EDIT:  +1 to OP

If you have an Asari Adept and an Infiltrator on your team or are one or the other yourself, work together to take down targets. Stasis keeps the enemies immobile long enough for a sure headshot.

If you're using Vanguard, you can charge your heavy melee while in the middle of using Nova. This gives you an instant heavy melee immediately after your Nova which comes in handy sometimes.

Right-hand advantage is VERY strong in this game. Your character holds the gun on the right side of their body, and you can use this to great effect when you:

A. Have low shields.
B. Are trying to safely shoot a turret.
C. Are trying to safely get shots on an Atlas mech.

Simply place your character behind a wall that has their gun (the right side) pointing outwards to the target, and you can shoot completely safe. This is a godsend on Silver/Gold.

- On Silver/Gold, save your rockets for when you ABSOLUTELY need to kill an Atlas mech. Team shooting them down should be your go-to option, and the rockets should be seen as an emergency 'get-out-of-jail-free' card.

- Remember that in tough situations where you have no shields and low health, you can use an Ops Survival Pack to instantly regenerate both.

- Always try to position yourself in a place where:

A. You can cover the largest amount of space to watch enemy spawns and support teammates.
B. You have a place to duck down at/into when you're in trouble.
C. You can easily defend attacks from.

Just a few tips for people who want to make the transition to the higher difficulties. Number one among those would be 'have someone bring an asari so you can faceroll the entire match'.

You can use cobra missiles by pressing up on the d-pad (xbox) everyone has at most 2. Try not to use them on anything but an alas or POSSIBLY a large group of difficult enemies (combat engineers, phantoms or guardians). You have a limited supply but can get more by buying recruit or veteran packs. You have to hold the fire button for about a second before the missile actually fires.

Edit 1: The best way to deal with a phantom is to have an asari adept put it in stasis. If you don't have an asari, Overload works well on the barrier (it should take it out in one hit at at least level 3 on silver). Cryo blast is good for slowing them down and Incinerate with the damage over time upgrade with keep them from becoming complely invisible once they cloak. They can block some biotics but not all (not sure the specifics). Melee is a good way to kill them fast but it is very risky as they may instakill you if you miss or are too slow. Biotic charge will stagger them most of the time, setting up for an easy heavy melee. Combat drones will draw their attention and are very good at keeping them distracted.

This. 100X this. I just finished a Silver match playing as  a Salarian Infiltrator with an Asari Adept and we worked amazing together. Stasis Bubble + Widow = win. I never even had to use any of my equipment.

OT: Always have an infiltrator in your squad. They're almost a necessity for 8/9/10 wave objective missions on Silver+ and for reviving. Even if you suck at sniping they can easily be loaded with shotguns or assault rifles for deadly CQC.

Edit:
Always pick a position with long fire lanes, good cover, or near multiple spawn points, preferably a combination of two or more of those. Examples:
On Noveria I pretty much stick to the overlook next to the landing pad, falling back to the area around the pit if things get heated.
On Firebase Ghost there are two good spots: the lane next to the landing pad is excellent for the first 6 or so waves as you can see all but one spawn point. Wave 7 I usually try to get the squad to retreat to the building directly across the courtyard from the landing pad. It offers a long firing field to the front. The ladder to the left limits enemies to coming at you one at a time from there. And to the right is good cover if your position is breached. However this position is a death trap without at least three people.

Also a tip for Infiltrators: you can grab enemies directly across from low cover for an instant kill. This works great for entering a room full of enemies: cloak, sprint into low cover across from an enemy, grab them then dash back out of the room. Rinse. Repeat. If you cloak again once out of the room they'll often go back into cover, especially Nemesises. Works even better if you can get a squad member to distract them. Note: This doesn't work on Phantoms as I've found the hard way...<_<

Asari Adept + any race infiltrator will make your life 10x easier on Gold. Stasis is so useful vs. phantoms (which the later waves on gold consist almost entirely of), and infiltrator cloak is really useful for objectives and reviving.

1. Use voice chat to determine who you are playing with
2. Use voice chat for calling priority targets.
3. Use voice chat to warn teammates of immideate dangers, such as phantoms or turrets.
4. Use voice chat to communicate what happens around you if you get downed, so another teammate doesn't get killed by trying to rez you.

Don't care if you are communicating this through a 5$ tin can microphone. Just do it.

Tip from me.

If you are playing any class that is heavy on the weaponry and you have an adept or an Asari, cover them. They are the weakest class even at higher levels. They rely heavily on biotics and only have one or two guns at the most. Those playing Vanguard classes who always biotic charge in leave the Asari and weaker classes alone leaving them to get killed off.

By keeping the Asari alive they can use their stasis and warp abilities to devastating effects. Also for Vanguards and other heavy classes don't go running off by yourself because seriously you're killing off your entire squad even on Bronze level. Sticking together in as they said above teams of two or in the entire team of four ups survival chances.

I've seen this in many of my play throughs on the demo of the MP. I'll be in a team and I'm the only adept and the other three are heavy assault classes and they all run off elsewhere leaving me alone. I get killed more often than not because they don't think that they have to stick together.

The thing about this MP is that you have to work as a team. Working it solo is a good way to get killed off.

Another tip... DON'T log off after you get killed. It's not fair to the remaining players. If you get killed just wait until they defeat the current wave. By logging off and going to another instance all you're doing is leaving the remaining players in a match that was meant for 4 people to be played by 3 or even 2 people if the second player that dies decides to go and leave as well.

Or hot up an asari adept (aka me) to take out phantoms. I'll find out how I take them out and make a thread about killing them when I get home, they are easy if you do it right.

If you're referring to the Cobra Missile Launcher, all classes have that.

It's not worth to waste the missile on a turret, fully upgraded warp can one shot them once the shields are down.

If you skill stasis right, you have a chance to get zero cooldown and can detonate right away. But even if not, go stasis, throw, stasis, warp. Those explosions should sent them flying skyhigh, too.

I also believe that stasis bubble is better, because more phantoms jump/drop/run into it, and thus get hit by biotic explosions. Vanguards can detonate stasis, too, keeping them in a stunlock.

Overload can be pretty be darn useful as it can damage barriers and with evolutions chain lightning and neural shock upgrades can stagger and keep enemies at bay. Almost essential to taking down Phantoms defenses if there is no Asari in the team and much better option than Warp as they tend to shrug most of the damage from biotics.

And cast Combat Drones on Guardians so they appear behind them, as they will turn around and expose themselves which is especially handy for wave 11.

-Roll continuously when your shields are down and you can't find cover.

-Be willing to move your whole squad across the map if the area you are in is too hot.

-Back in the lobby give fellow squad members roughly 1-2 minutes to buy packs, change/upgrade weapons. Those change ups may mean the difference between success and failure. On the flipside don't dilly-dally equipping your character or you'll get the boot. Hopefully we'll get voice working in lobby soon.

-Grenades have about a 8-10ft blast radius. Stay clear till it goes off.

-Voice in game seems sketchy in the demo but if you know it works then feel free to warn others of grenades, incoming enemies from a certain direction, Phantoms, turrets, etc. Notifying team that you are moving position to flank is also a good idea.

If you're the last one left and you're getting shot at or feel like you're in a bad position, RUN AWAY! It's always best to run away to a better position and let the enemies come at you gradually, even if it takes 10 minutes, rather than trying to take on all enemies at once.

I have to say insisting someone gets a mic is not very fair no offense to people who have them. Some people like me don't use one for reasons they don't wish to disclose. Others have had theirs broken and can't afford a replacement in this economy.

Also there is no 5 dollar replacement headset. Many headsets for the xbox version of the game cost anywhere between 30-60 dollars or more. The Kinect sensor is 150 dollars at brand new value price. 100 dollars at used price. So if someone doesn't have one don't insist they get one or use it if they do. Not everyone is like everyone else. Just some friendly advice.

Without it though, it's hard to let your intentions be known. If no one has a mic at all in the game, it's ok. Stick close to each other so you you know what happens to them and vice versa. But if one one person does, you will have to pay close attention to what they say and follow any important commands (best word I could think of, please don't be offended.) they might say.

Not offended but yeah I get what you are saying. Pay close attention to the one who has it is a good tip.

Best tip: Always have an engineer. A single upgraded overload will bring down barriers on Phantoms and the shield of anything other than an Atlas.

It's also really important to have good situational awareness if you want to perform well. If you pay attention when the wave starts, you can hear where the enemy will spawn from, which can help you plan out your approach and make sure you don't get flanked.

Other than that, pretty much everything has already been said. Just remember to use all your powers to their full potential, no matter what class, and you'll end up doing better and better.

Tip for success in any difficulty: Stasis Bubble + Cryo Flamethrower Turret + Turian Sentinel + Krogan Carnage= WIN!
