Yeah I just learned about this last night. I never played dragon age I was always more interested in sci-fi so I won't join the party that dislikes her either way. But is doesn't matter she absolutely does not deserve this sort of trash but, I'm also saddened at her response and some of the Bioware employees responses and that to me showed that this got to them and her, so essentially the trolls succeed. I hope the fallout has been cleared and Bioware can just go along. Me personally if I had the money I would given 10,000 dollars against bullying.

Mute the video and re-watch it.

There is always a worse fanbase out there. Bioware's probably ranks pretty high up there though.

Nah, I have to agree, the Bioware fanbase is worse than Star Wars and Fallout.

Just wow.
An her idea isn't bad, certainly would make playing ME 1 & 2 quicker as I could just skip the combat and focus on setting up a character.

I think a game without gameplay is called a movie.

You buy the game and get what the developer/ publisher give you. Some of the posts concerning the number of collector edition copies available, DLC, etc have been downright rude. I agree with Aaleel, a lot of it comes from the fact that people can hide behind a screen name but the incident in the Gamespot article is beyond the pale. How can you honestly think anyone has the right to do that.

Criticism is one thing; heck I still think Bioware tossed the Mass Effect fans out chasing Battlefield and Gears of War fans. My point is if you have criticism, make it, support it, and keep it as civil as you would be if you actually faced the person you are criticizing.

That's all I have to say about that.

i agree on this.
why bioware why you left us aside for your GEARS OF WARZ battlefielders EA fans ?

...but she didn't say like "screw came play, games should cut it out all together" she said "option to skip" right? I mean, I play games for the story, and I find Gameplay tedious and boring at the best of times. I don't see why adding the option would be so awful.

plus attaching someones character like that for their opinion isn't ever a good thing to do, and its not just for gamers, every fandom has the haters and the trolls. but just because it happens, doesn't make it right.

She only said people could have "the option". Just becuse you like to play games a certain way doesn't mean everyone else does.

For what it's worth, I really like Jennifer's idea of a combat skip button. And it's nice to see a game developer considering what would make games more appealing to women.

And let's face it, sometimes combat just gets repetitive. Anyone that has played DA2 should understand that 3+ waves of enemies can get frustrating, and ME2 has the same mechanic.

Has nothing to do with entitlement and everything to do with being able to say whatever you want from the behind a screen name.

And it's not limited to people on gaming forums.

It is society in general.  We are living in an age of rude, self absorbed, brats, who think they are entitled to anything.  And it applies to people of all ages.  I have seen 50 year olds behave worse on than 15 year olds.

Internet bullying is defiantly becoming more mainstream and starting to be taken seriously. I always knew it was serious but, some people laugh on how can you cry over something someone said something on the net.

I love how having expectations is now considered to be "entitlement mentality" How sad is that, were being derided for having basic expectations on things were paying 60+ dollars for.

You obviously, and I stress obviously, did not comprehend the point of the article. The point was, you do not have the right to insult Bioware or insult any of its employees. One has to question what kind of mentality breeds the personal insults and threats that were and are seen in the fanbase. It has to be a mentality of entitlement, that leads one to believe they can say whatever they want, and disregard the rules of common decency and manners.

The people who go down this road are going to make the rest of us pay for it, because developers are going to become less and less willing to subject themselves to this totally unreasonable abuse.

For the record, I am not including individuals who respectfully ask for changes and/or disagree with Bioware. I personally believe Bioware wants customer feedback and shows great patience in wading through the trash to get to valid criticism.

+1.  No wonder they're so interested in attracting a broader fan base, when this is the way their current market behaves.

Wasn't there a game not to long ago (past 6-7 years) where combat sections could be skipped? Maybe it was just a concept that didn't pan out from Peter Molyneux...

In any case, there are too many people out there that feel the internet is the place to bring out their trashy inner-selves. Luckily, there are a lot of solid people out there too, even here on BSN.

L.A. Noire allows you to skip action sequences after 3 failed attempts

Fans as a term is not really adequate. Zealots is more applicable, and when that happens as soon as they percieve they have suffered a slight they flip from praising the product to relentlessly attacking it at every opportunity.

On a more serious note if you search her name on youtube you will get some pretty horrible things. I'm honestly not sure what she's done to garner such hate. I mean I think her skip combat idea is quite silly but not worth that level of vitriol that she has directed against her.

leveling personal attacks against anyone is unacceptable PERIOD...that said it is curious that an off topic thread critical of Bioware gets closed, but one critical of fans (both create around the same timeframe) is left open...
