People should get their damn facts straight.

She didn't say she hated playing games, but that she would like to fast-forward the combat portions as one can fast-forward conversations. I'm personally against it, but it's not the same thing at all. That the combat portions take up so much of Bioware's games is another problem entirely, one for which she is not responsible at all.

Second, about her writing, according to the wiki http://dragonage.wik...Jennifer_Hepler she wrote most of the dwarven portions in Origins, which have good writing aside from being overly long, and a few characters in Dragon Age II, of which only one (nu-Anders) do I consider to be validly criticized as being badly written (seriously, Cullen, Sebastian and Elthina were amongst the few NPCs I actually liked in that game). She also wrote the Legacy, that got some praise even from people who didn't enjoy the main game, and had pretty deceny writing in my books. So I don't know where the ''she is ruining Bioware!!'' comes from.

She or Bioware are most definitely not above criticism. But when said critics pull stuff out of their ass, they should stop and do their research. And of course the people who insulted her are nothing more than pathetic keyboard warriors that completely deserve being snapped at by Hepler and Flynn.

Great article, it raises some very prominent points. I am very sorry this has happened to Ms. Hepler, good to see BioWare, the community and various other entities directly defending her. That level of negative hatred is utterly mind-blowing. Critisim and critque are one thing, alienation, sexism, racisim are something else entirely. I believe a lot of this is aided by the anonymity that the internet offers.

Even though this appears to be a small group, we as gamers are better than this. No one should fall to that level to prove any point whether valid or in-valid, sought or unsought.

I don't really know what else to say.

I have to agree, when it comes to fanbases -nothing- tops K-Pop fans for sheer entitlement and crazy. Korean celebrities can't date because it gives their delusional fans the impression that they might not be able to have them all to themselves. They pretty much live in a prison with their lives dictated by their fanbase. Scary stuff.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a sense of entitlement from gamers. It shows that they are involved with your product. In other branches you also get upset consumers when you point your product in a direction that they dislike. It's a normal phenomenon. A good response would be to involve your consumers even more with your product and listen to their feedback, although it is hard to establish how many people share certain views.

And well, it's the internet, so people might not actually point out what they dislike, but swear instead. It's rude, but well, it's what people do. Just take a deep breath and move on.

If you guys think what happened to Hepler is a horrible tragedy, I urge you to avoid any sort of website with a political, partisan bias. Everybody believes everyone else is Hitler.

I bet David Gaider has taken this kind of abuse and worse for years, but he didn't break down. No one feels sorry for him. Hepler showed her throat to gain some sympathy and this is what happens. The people attacking her may be douchebags, but she's handled it poorly.

Sounds like a great responce to me.  I just might have to send a donation there myself.....

True those people exist but there is plenty of fair criticism on this forum and the people who post them often post and discuss possible solutions. Then others jump in saying things like " That is BSN for ya", or "BSN is so ignorant".

You assume it is the same people who are mud slinging on both occasions. 

Narritive is good but that does not mean game play should be sacrificed. A good story keeps me engaged and good gameplay holds it all together.
