Exactly! Mass Effect is about the combination of 3 key elements: Combat, RPG, and Story. In ME1 the story was good, as were the RPG elements, but the combat left alot to be desired. In ME2, the combat was improved, the story (In my opinion) was about on par with ME1, but the RPG elements were sacrificed.Gabey5 wrote...

Proof that you can't win with some people: Jennifer Hepler gets mud slinged at her for saying games need more narrative focus, while David Jaffe gets mud slinged at him for saying games need less of it.
You assume it is the same people who are mud slinging on both occasions.
Narritive is good but that does not mean game play should be sacrificed. A good story keeps me engaged and good gameplay holds it all together.
In ME3, so far the combat and RPG are good. It's up to Bioware to fill the most important part now, the story. I have faith in Bioware for this, but it remains to be seen if it matches (And hopefully exceeds, it is the finale of Shepard's story) the bar of quality set by the two games before.
