There would have to be some code in the ME3 demo that is meant to detect ME2 files for it to have the same exact error. It would be great to get an official word on whether that's the case.

This is exactly what I am thinking. Now I just need to find a new hard drive somewhere so I can test this out.

Really odd question, do you live in the UK or US or elsewhere? The reason I ask this is because I live in the UK which means that I won't get the game till March 9th. If you have pre-ordered the game you will get March 6th so you could tell us whether it sill occurs.

I have some questions:

1) When the error asks you to restart does it sometimes ask you to Log into your EA Account?

2) Why would not being able to connect to a server prevent you from importing your character?

3) Does anyone know how to access the "invisible file"?

4) What type of Xbox are you playing on Slim, Elite etc?

1) Yes, but not every time. And this is only for the ME 3 demo - it does not happen in Mass Effect 2.

4) Xbox slim - the 250GB one from the kinect bundle 2010.

Stange this all appears to be happening on Slims. We need to ask other people who have the problem what system they are playing on.

I have a question, have any of you deleted any ME1 saves, from the career/s you imported?

I have transfered my Mass Effect 1 saves to a USB, and then took the hard drive out of my Xbox, booted up the game. No sign-in errors from there I re-did the ending of Mass Effect 1 to create the "hidden file" then booted up Mass Effect 2. I got 1 sign-in error I restarted the game and it let me import my character, I went back to the dashboard and played the game again. I did this 4 times and I had no-sign in errors.

I am going to transfer the Mass Effect 3 Demo to my USB then see if I get any sign-in errors.

I usually don't get any sign-in errors for a while after resigning myself to restarting the game, but it definitely comes back after a few hours. Interestingly, the people I know who don't have this error aren't playing on Slims. Also, I'm in the US, so I'll be playing it on the 6th. And, I'm almost positive this message will occur every single time I try to play Mass Effect 3 and that's why it's a big deal right now.

I have found something intresting, I made all the files exactly the same on my USB as they were on my hard drive and I have had no-sign in errors with ME2 and the ME3 Demo while using a USB.

What files does that include? And is that with your hard drive out of the system?

Could you try importing a character into ME2 while just using your usb?

Yes, I tried importing my character into ME2 and there was no sign-in errors. If you want to do this you will have to redo the ending of Mass Effect 1.

Do you think that means the invisible saves on the hard drive were corrupted? I wonder if it's possible to fix it, somehow.

The only way to find that out would be to:

A) Get a new hard drive.
B) Reformat your hard drive and back up the saves.

You may think I am being a idiot, but try this with all your ME1 DLC and saves, ME2 DLC and saves. (can't remember if I deleted the Mass Effect 2 Importer) keep these on your hard drive. Now if you have ME1 and ME2 disks installed. Delete them. I have just done this and I have had no sign-in errors with the ME3 demo or Mass Effect 2 start-up or import. I have tried each 3 times and no-errors.

Please tell me whether this works.

Can you go through the steps again? Did you put all the saves and DLC back on the hard drive and have had no errors?

Sorry I really should of formated that post,

-Make sure that you have your hard drive plugged in.
-Now make sure that you have all your DLC for Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 on the hard drive.
-Make sure you have all your saves from Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 on your hard drive.
-I am not sure whether I deleted the Mass Effect 2 Importer so this is up to you.
-Now delete the Mass Effect 1 Install disk and the Mass Effect 2 Disk 1 and 2 from the hard drive.

I have had no errors with Mass Effect 3 Demo Mass Effect 2 start-up or import.

Again please post your results.

I never had the disks installed but still got the error. A friend of mine told me he got rid of the problems INSTALLING the game, but I'm yet to try it.

I had the Games on Demand version of Mass Effect 1, but I will try deleting that and the ME2 discs in a little while and update my results. I'll also try with turning off cloud storage.
