Earlier today, I wasn't getting the error when I just had ONLY my profile and the ME3 demo on a usb drive and no hard drive in my console. I may not have given it enough time to give me the error, though. If someone else can try the same method, and post results, that'd be great.

I tried the same thing the other day.  Then I tried with saves and all the Mass Effect 2 DLC, I did not recieve an error however eventually I did recieve them. This error is intermittent so it might not pop one second then it will the next. I had no error for a full day. Then I did get an error.

It has to be a Bioware problem. It can't be the:
Saves: Because we can use them and play them fine offline and online, and the demo does not have the ablity to import saves.
Disk: Because you don't need a disk to play the Mass Effect 3 Demo, and we can use it fine offline.
Hard Drive: Because we can play the saves, use the disk offline fine.

Which only leaves Bioware and the Cerberus Network/Alliance Network.
Cerberus Network and Alliance Network is the only thing that requires you to be online to use. Bioware operate Cerberus Network not EA. When I tried playing Mass Effect 2 with my account in my mates Xbox with his hard drive in it gave me the error when using my account, but not his.

If there was only some way to contact Bioware and really see if they can get the problem sorted out.

Also regarding the hardware someone in this thread (can't remember who) said they share an Xbox one of them could access the game without any problem the other said they could not. This can only mean then that the problem is tied to your account which feeds back to Bioware by Cerberus Network/Alliance Network.

But hopefully like you said the Alliance Network code will counter-react the Ceberus Network code. If anyone really wants to find out sooner you could always buy another Cerberus Network code off the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 1200MSP I think it is.

Hi Zico291,

Thanks for summarizing the issue. We are investigating it right now. We may ask more info from you guys if we cant repro the problem today.

Scylla.

Thanks for replying, I am happy to provide any information you need. I am sure the other people in this thread will be happy to supply any information aswell.

I bought me2 again today and tried to import my me1 shep and got the infamous warning.

I took earlier advice and deleted the installed games off hdd and when I played although I got the message at the start once I went through the loading process again it all worked fine.

I imported my me1 shep and started playing.

Once I got to tim I saved and went back to dashboard. When Entering the game again I got no message and everything is working fine.

Heres the strange part, I stopped playing when a friend came round and played another game and when going to the game in my library I noticed that I still had disc 1 installed.

Id only deleted me1 and me2 disc 2.

Whether this has anything to do with the problem I do not know but I thought post anyway.

p.s Cant wait for me3!

Not sure if this has been pointed out before, but I picked up this issue with ME2 a couple of weeks ago when I upgraded my account to gold. I've been exclusively silver so far, and never had that issue show up.

OTOH, I haven't been playing a lot recently, so it could be related to the dashboard upgrade, too. Just saying that it's a new phenomenon for me.

ME 3 demo started without errors today. Have not changed anything since last time. Hope it stays that way....

I haven't received the error on the ME3 demo in a couple days, but (this may just be my imagination) it seems even more frequent in ME2.

Unfortunately, I got the error on both ME2 and the ME3 demo tonight, more than once. I have a theory about what might be the cause. Sometimes when you start a game and press the Xbox Guide button as it begins to load, even if you are connected to Xbox Live it will appear as though you are offline with a "connect to Xbox Live" option, before eventually returning to the typical menu with friends and messages. I believe this moment is when the game is communicating with the main Xbox Live servers to check if there is an update for the game (if there is, it forces you to stay offline in the title until you update). My theory is that Mass Effect 2 and 3 attempt to connect to EA servers during or shortly after the time when your profile is attempting to fetch a title update, and the EA servers sense it as a sign-in change. Just a theory, but it seems likely that a communication disrupt with EA servers when starting a game would cause the "sign-in change" error message.

I get these problems too, it never used to happen since launch of me2 but up until about 3 mojnths ago it happens most of the time so I don't know what could of been causing it, also it's happened once with the demo but that wasn't the first time I started it up but a few days later. Can't comment whether it's fixed now because I've been playing the pc demo.

Are you guys clearing the cache on your hard-drive as well? (Settings --> Storage --> Options [I think])

You'll have to re-download the patches, but it's only 4MB.

It usually clears up my issues when ME2 (among other games) starts acting odd.

Hey, good to see Bioware is finally addressing this issue. I've had this problem for a while now and there was a thread in the ME2 forums which was ignored since the game is old i guess (http://social.biowar...80137/2#8967400). Somewhere there indicated that Bioware/EA added an authentication for DLC you own since people were pirating it, and that is what broke the system. This is not the only game with this issue though, as I've had trouble with Saint's Row 3 and Red Faction: Armageddeon (Both THQ/Volition games with DLC codes in the package). I think this might have to do with the fact that for a split second before a game boots, it says i'm not connected to Live (check this by booting the disc then hitting the guide, my guide will then say "Connect to XBL" even though I never technically disconnect). Does this weird glitch happen for anyone else?

I have only ever had the issue with Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3: Demo.

Found a possible fix.

I have 2 gamertags both linked to my EA account.

What I did is while on the dashboard I signed into my second gamertag.
I then loaded ME2 until it signed into cerberus network.

Once it was signed into the Cerberus Network I pressed the Guide button then pressed X to sign out.

After I signed out I got the sign-in change error.

I then signed into my main gamertag and waited for the game to sign in to cerberus network.

Once it had signed in to cerberus network I exited to dashboard. Now Whenever I start ME2 or the ME3 demo I don't get the sign-in changed error.

Could all just be a temporary fix or even just coincidence but it might be worth you trying.

Never mind. That only fixed it temporarily. The error is back in Mass Effect 2.

After reading other posts on this thread I see some of you linking it with cloud storage or the last dashboard update.

It is not caused by them. I've had this problem with Mass Effect 2 for months. It could have been caused by a previous dashboard update but it wasn't the latest dashboard update.

I do have 2 gamertags linked to my EA account. Could that be the cause?

I also have a 250GB slim. And like Xavior0080 says it also disconnects briefly when booting a game. Could that be the cause?

I have also noticed I get a brief not connected to live message when booting up the zune marketplace. Could the same thing that causes this be causing the sign in problems in ME2 and 3?

I'm not positive if you're actually disconnected or if its just a visual thing, but the DLC authentication theory sounds plausible. It also does not occur on my other account on my Slim. How many pieces of DLC do you guys own (I think that was another speculation) I own all the paid DLC for ME2 plus the doctor pepper helmets.

I don't think it's a problem with multiple gamer tags linked to an EA account, Malacath360. I've only ever had one on mine. I mentioned earlier, I think the brief window when booting a game where it looks like you're disconnected is when the game is checking for a title update with Microsoft's servers. I had speculated that this might be interfering with EA's servers being unable to authenticate your gamertag when starting up a game. I feel like if this were the problem, though, it wouldn't have started happening for people in only the last few months.

So it's not caused by multiple gamertags.

I did have the idea it might be caused by my hard drive only having a few gigabytes of free space left so I just deleted about 100GB of installed games hoping that fixes it. Unfortunately though I still get the sign in error.

This error is really annoying me. I'm worried I will struggle to import an ME2 character into ME3.
There could be a lot of complaints on these forums in a few days. Maybe then Bioware will actually do something about it.

Well, its all but guaranteed that this is some type of validation on your EA account, which means you can always use the foolproof (but extremely annoying) method of importing while disconnected from Live (this is unacceptable btw). I actually thought I could no longer import a character into ME2 because of this stupid glitch before I figured I could go offline.

Bioware, this probably is not your issue, as I've also experienced this is KoA:Reckoning (I forgot this happened while playing this too, though not 100%, more like 30%), which is an EA partners game which, Surprise!, asks you to log in to EA's servers. You need to get on EA's case about this.I beleive this is their issue, but it's making your game look bad (or in ME2's case, unstartable without a workaround).

I've just tried deleting the games from my HDD and this seems to have solved the issue for ME2 however the ME3 demo is still getting the issue. I initially thought this was being caused by me changing my gamertag but with so many people getting it it doesn't look like this is the case :(

I've had my gamertag since I created it in Nov. '04 so that can't be the issue.

I can confirm that while this issue has persisted every single time i have booted the game on my slim since January, switching over to an older model (Purchased around Nov 08) the error failed to pop up. Is everyone else seeing the error on a slim as well? (Mine was a launch slim)
