Many people didn't like Anders, but the *character* was very well written, imo. There are a lot of characters in games that players either love or  hate, but that alone shows the skill in the writing, you can't love or hate a boring, badly written character, they just can't stir the emotions..

Sebastian, extremely annoying.

Anders, ruined alot of the respective part for me, I sadly had my son running around and watching the monitor without my knowledge for the same time as one is the forced scene......

I think there is a reason that I can not recall anything in particular about the dwarfs in DAII 1,5 years after having played it through with every possible side-quest I could find finished.

Sadly when I glinse at the parts she worked with in DA:O I draw the same conclusions.

Well, It is tiresome with all the bloody overly emotional, daddy issues, oversexual characters in Bioware games of late. Hell, everyone got the weirdest issues except for Varric. Really? "buhuh I have a demon inside me...lets have sex" oh hey there boyo...I think you have bigger issues.

And yes, We can love and hate boring, badly written to. Why else would bad movies get fan followings? Like Troll 2! Or do you proclaim that is a good movie :P

I myself kicked Anders and Isabela out of my party cause of the to big focus on sex in both of them. I kicked Fenris out cause of to much of a emo, ****ing cry baby of a elf. I just had enough of them all. I did not find them appealing. I did not find the jokes about STD's appealing, I did not find Anders and what he did appealing. Sebastian? Suddenly he went home to his town to kick my ass. Well...why the hell did you need my help?

Dragon Age 2 to me, was a grand disaster. Mass Effect on the other hand, had **** to nof daddy issues in the second installment but is yet a much much much better game storywise. Jacob is one of the most boring character in ME2 but yet he is intrigueing. Thats what I call good writing, to make a boring character interesting beyond that boring exterior. To make them non extreme but yet interesting.

Anders? Extreme
Isabela? Extreme
Fenris? Extreme

And they are not interesting. They are annoying and to much in the FACE WAAM! SEX! SEX SEX! IM A HORNY PIRATE! WAAM" and "WAAM! IM AN ELF! I AM ANGRY! RAWR! PU T ME IN THE NEXT FINAL FANTASY AS TIDUS BROTHER! WAAM" and I know, Herpler did not write Fenris as far as I know. The dwarfs I guess I have to give her some what of a credit for on the other hand. (Nor Isabela! but Sebastian is a weird ****er to who suddenly can bring an army which makes no sense)

Personally, I was also annoyed with the Chanter Prince, but it had more to do with the way he was finalized in Act 3 and the whole 'My Way or Highway' attitude. Up until then, I found the character rather like a breath of fresh air; more like a devout Nathaniel Howe.

If one chose to seat Bhelen in Orzammar, then there was a side quest to interact with the last of the Harrowmont lineage. Even I had done this myself at least once, while choosing Harrowmont as ruler the majority of the time. But other than some hired thugs, assassins, and a few references with the Deep Roads, most of the Dwarves met in Kirkwall are surface Dwarves, I believe.

And while I empathize with the complaints on sexual matters, almost all of this is optional, as I certainly managed to avoid a lot of what is available now on youtube. So I am not sure as to what forced scene is meant here. For Anders, Isabela, and Fenris, a simple 'Not Interested' seemed to work rather well.

I thought the Deep Roads were very well done, even though they were long. The Anvil of the Deep sequence was marvelous. I enjoy Ms Hepler's writing a great deal. She did an excellent job on Anders, so much so that it's almost too real for me. Ms Hepler is a talented game writer, and I hope to enjoy her work in the world of Thedas for years to come. Let's just hope that Bioware lets her do more about the Dwarves. Awesome! [edited to correct spelling]

It's pretty clear, after your rant, that rpgs and particularly Bioware rpgs are just not for you. You didn't have to take anyone up on the sex, or download Sebastian. you didn't have to have anyone you disliked in your party, except for plot driven quests. You certainly didn't have to  even buy it if you had researched it beforehand and decided the sex and emo parts were something you didn't like.  Next time, research a game before you buy it, that might save you some $'s and grief.

I'd bet Aveline, Varric, and Merril all like sex as much as Anders and Isabela do.

Which makes them all filthy ****. That's why I like my party to only be me and Rabbit (who I've had fixed.)

To put it simple, great work in DA:O. Not so great work in DA2. Considering Gaider's comment above, it seems just a a trend based on the respective quality of both games and not on the writer in question alone.

Maybe games should have a toggle to fix unwanted sexual partners, sort of like neutering your Rabbit.;)

It was my first Origin playthrough, and it was the only one I played twice (played through eight times, one for each origin and then the mage again as my final, cannon playthrough).

Really well done. Probably the longest, as well. Two different "dungeon" sections (The Harrowing and then the phylactery chambers) and involving lots of choice. You can rat out Jovan, you can do a few side quests in the Fade, you can interact with an entire tower's worth of NPCs (probably the largest NPC set in an Origin, except maybe the Dwarven origins). Not to mention the Mage origin lets you do things other non-magical classes can, like make a deal with Conner's demon, or talk to Wynne and have conversation points about her being your old teacher.

I've alway played Mages (even in DA2), but Origins did an excellent job of making me feel like one in the story.

The dwarf origin is probably my favorite of the 6, and if the NPCs include the town criers in Orzamar this woman deserves a raise. Those guys were great and NEED to make a return in DA3.

"What I know she' s written:

-DA2 Anders
-Dwarf Commoner Origin
-Anvil of the Void Quest
-Some Dwarf Lore
-Many Orzammar NPC's
-Sebastian
-Leandra
-Behthany
-Elthina
-Much of Legacy's Main Plot"

^ The above happen to be most of my favorite parts of both games, and were long before I knew that Jennifer had a hand in all of them. <3

The only problems I have with the DA2 characters she wrote were that some of them tended to be too whiny for me. But hey, what can you do when everyone you meet has some miserable upbringing in DA2. I swear, it felt like a competition at times.

I personally didn't like how Anders changed. However, if I look at the character as someone completely new and not Anders from Awakening; he's an interesting character. Although, he tended to be a bit preachy and whiny for me.

Bethany was a cute little sister and occasionally brought out the protective big brother in me. I do wish that Hawke could interject when Bethany was getting hit on during party banter. And again the woes is me thing kicked in here as well.

Leandra, lovely lady to chat to, but I didn't get the whole: "This is my mom, I love her very much." vibe I was suppose to get. The closest I got to it was feeling like the red-headed step child of the family.

Sebastian was great. It sucks he was a character I had to buy, but he was the character on our team to give us opinions on situations from the mind aspect of the chantry. Which I believe is necessary in the DA series.

Elthina felt too much like a background character for me. The most I got out of her was that she was the parent figure of the city. But did nothing to keep the peace.

Legacy was alright. I found the whole Varric situation odd. It just felt like: "Well isn't that convenient." Learning about Hawke's father and his views wasn't that much of an impact on anything. I did enjoy seeing the taint actually make a person fight you instead of just them asking to be killed. Dwarves being part of a cult was nice. Corypheus' backstory was also pretty interesting.

My favorite Dragon Age 2 character was Bethany, which I believe was written by Jennifer. It's too bad that you only get her playing a non magic user (understandably). It's just magic is the most fun class to play as so you miss out on her.

Sebastian is one of my favourite DA characters. I really hope Ms. Hepler gets to write an expansion featuring his quest to retake his lands.:)
