Terrible wording of that title aside, I've been playing my engineer and in the first branch of the tree there's an option to upgrade to Detonate. Which essentially does damage to nearby enemies when your drone is destroyed.

My question for abilities like this, is whether or not that applies to you reusing the ability. i.e. If I cast combat drone on an enemy, enemy dies, and I elect to switch to a different target and refresh the combat drone, does the original drone dissipating count as being destroyed? Or does an enemy actually have to finish off my drone for the damage to occur?

So in short, if I reuse my combat drone ability, does the original drone consider itself 'destroyed' and do the damage from Detonate or not?

I tried that, but never noticed any damage or visible effects from doing so.

Recasting Combat Drone or Singularity won't trigger the explosion you can get from upgrades.

I don't like how the armor in this game works. Tech armor i mean. I press Y and it looks as though it's surrounding my body yet i take damage. ;________;

And yet the damage you take is greatly reduced.

Just never bother detonating Tech Armor and you'll love it. The damage reduction and eventual power/melee boost is nice. The detonation is weak, small, and has a long cooldown. Activate it and leave it for the whole game.

So in bronze and silver it's probably not worth it to get Detonate then if I'm constantly recasting the drone. Thanks for the insight.
