Does anyone know what type of metal the special edition case is to be made out of?

I originally voted for the blonde concept. I don't think it looked unmilitary, unprofessional, or at all inferior.

Why, you ask?

Problem?

I loved Starbuck, she was so bad*ss. Seriously, one of my all time favorite moments in TV/Video games/movies/books was her being a bamf.

Dear god she was cool. Then she died and I was sad. Then she had a freaking evil cliff hanger and I was sad. Then she turned out to be an angel in disguise and I was sad.

So.. i'm not a very good human being because I don't care about the default Shepard? Heck, marketing even describes Shepard as something you can mold to your image...
Must not feed the troll. Must... resist...

Once again: i do not care about how the female Shepard looks in-game. I will never play as her.

I care that misogyny and prejudice has directly been allowed to impact the creative process. If you don't, then yes - you are a terrible human being.

Didn't like the blonde look because the default FemShep always had ginger/red hair. So for the sake of continuity I didn't want blonde.

Other than that, blonde wasn't too bad. She still looks a bit like an angry teen, but I'm sure I can live with that.

No, I have to resist feeding you. Don't make me use restraints to hold my hands away from the keyboard, that just wouldn't be fun.

Yes. After the blonde model won, this forum, twitter and the blogosphear were awash with anti-blonde sentiment and comments likening her to a Barbie doll and calling her a bimbo. Examples were provided earlier in the thread.

Perhaps you should educate yourself on the topic before throwing around such peurile allegations.

People are still feeding this troll?

Here is all the proof you need that he is either a troll or insane.

I have a long-term girlfriend who happens to have naturally dark hair. I didn't need to pretend to be a feminist to get into her knickers either. I used my ineffable charm.

That's lovely but you didn't answer my original point

But the main reason i'm here is because i live and breathe social justice.

Again I ask why are you wasting energy arguing about the hair color of a fictional character?

When you can help the real targets of misogyny, helping out at say a shelter for battered women.

Because this is more important. Lots of people volunteer at shelters. Not many people stand up for blondekind, so i'm needed more here.

Would you have felt that way if the black Shepard won?

The new female Shepard's face is drastically different to the placeholder featured in ME1 and ME2. So continuity really has no place in the argument.

Yes, please continue to ignore the well-documented backlash against the original blonde version.

I never said there wasn't backlash. I was explaining why people backlashed and push for a redhead and saying that nobody in this thread is saying blonde women as any less capable. The idea is just that blonde hair is wrong for FemShep ONLY because she has already been shown in ME1 and ME2 to be a redhead in default.

Frankly, that's just as ridiculous as those that were against her for having blonde hair. Female Shepard was never depicted as anything. The "default" in ME1 and ME2 was little more than a placeholder, which is why we got to decide upon an actual look for her last year.

Would you have been equally up in arms if the black Shepard won? I mean, the "default" was always white.

No, because race is not the same as hair color. One has a history of oppression with racism still being a deep problem both socially and institutionally; the other is a hair color with no past or cureent legacy of oppressions. To equate the two is wrong on all possible levels.

You cannot be denied a job for being blonde, fired from a job for being blonde. You do not rarely see other blonde people in the media. You do not have to worry about being murdered or victimized for you blondeness.

Nothing against blondes, but it never should have been an option. It states clearly that Blonde hair is incredibly rare and almost extinct in mass effect.

Well, almost extinct isn't extinct, so where's the problem? Kahlee is (mostly) blonde. Yea, it would make Shep oddly stand out, but it wouldn't bug me too much

I don't know, it just seems like Shepard's special enough without a super rare 'doo. But that's just my opinion, no need to go spreading it around.

I'm not equating anything of the sort.

You said that the reason some people disliked the blonde Shepard was that she was depicted as having red hair in ME1 and ME2. She was also depicted as having white skin in ME1 and ME2, so surely, following that same logic, you would feel that any complaints over the black Shepard would be justified.

Or are you just not constistant?

Remember: the dark side may be stronger, but it is evil. If you give into temptation, you shall be an empty husk of your former self, always quick to forfeit friends and family for your own selfish ends!

No one wants to strangle their love interest to death; resist the lure!

I've met some blondes that were really smart and some that were downright dumb.
I've met some brunettes that were really smart and some that were downright dumb.
I've met redheads that were really smart and some that were downright dumb.

And most of them were men and the same applies to women.

You have a healty view of the world. Congratulations. That doesn't mean that those with a less healthy view of the world didn't influence the decision to set blondekind back by replacing the fair-haired Shepard with a redheaded one.
