Yes, please continue to ignore the well-documented backlash against the original blonde version.
I never said there wasn't backlash. I was explaining why people backlashed and push for a redhead and saying that nobody in this thread is saying blonde women as any less capable. The idea is just that blonde hair is wrong for FemShep ONLY because she has already been shown in ME1 and ME2 to be a redhead in default.
Frankly, that's just as ridiculous as those that were against her for having blonde hair. Female Shepard was never depicted as anything. The "default" in ME1 and ME2 was little more than a placeholder, which is why we got to decide upon an actual look for her last year.
Would you have been equally up in arms if the black Shepard won? I mean, the "default" was always white.
No, because race is not the same as hair color. One has a history of oppression with racism still being a deep problem both socially and institutionally; the other is a hair color with no past or cureent legacy of oppressions. To equate the two is wrong on all possible levels.
You cannot be denied a job for being blonde, fired from a job for being blonde. You do not rarely see other blonde people in the media. You do not have to worry about being murdered or victimized for you blondeness.
I'm not equating anything of the sort.
You said that the reason some people disliked the blonde Shepard was that she was depicted as having red hair in ME1 and ME2. She was also depicted as having white skin in ME1 and ME2, so surely, following that same logic, you would feel that any complaints over the black Shepard would be justified.
Or are you just not constistant?
