The difference is I've never met anyone who actually assumes that because a woman is blonde and attractive she must be a bimbo. And I'm sorry - you said misogynists and complainers. My bad.

I've met plenty. In fact, i've come across a great many more people that think this institutionalised prejudice against blonde people is okay, than people that make racist statements.
It must be purged from the face of the earth. I will fight, i will sacrifice, and i will find a way. Because that's what gentlemen do.
The first step is defacing my special edition, devaluing it greatly, in the name of social justice.

I think you watch a lot of tv and movies, you're really blowing up a barely-existent stereotype. Those kinds of women you're talking about are more judged by their manner, speech, clothes, etc. And a huge, huge amount of them dye their hair blonde if it isn't already. Seriously, though, your comparison is just silly. People just... don't do that. Prejudging by hair color?supergeek wrote...

Me neither

As a natural blonde who also happens to be a woman - I'm telling you this is offensive to me. I've never been turned down for a job or kept from buying property in certain neighborhoods because of my hair color. To suggest that jokes about the color of my hair makes my plight equal to that of an entire race of people's struggle for equality is absolutely ridiculous.

I'm surprised you're offended at the comparison. I'm not and I'm black. I just shook my head at it.supergeek wrote...

I didn't say that either.
I should be offended that so many of you have taken to flat out lying and misrepresenting my position.

You said making a blonde joke is just as offensive as making a racist joke. My response was just explaining why I think that's whack. I'm not sure what you think we're lying about exactly?

I find it offensive because I'm from the south (US) where racism is very real and blonde jokes are just that - jokes - not to be taken seriously. No one actually means it when they make a blonde joke, but unfortunately many who make a racist joke do. It's really rather rude of you to suggest that something is wrong with me because I disagree with your opinion. Either way I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on this one because.
