the people have demanded it, and so shall it be

Define "people".

Bio-sapiens who share his logic.  Apparently, from what I guess, he hasn't taken into factor the majority of people don't want anything special, they want a hand out.

I'm not a people, but I like the current system with all the randomness that's included. Sure it may need some tweaking, but hey, this is just a demo still. And having character classes, too, is good in my opinion. Most likely makes for more variety. The same thing with the randomness btw; it prevents the development of just a few builds, and it may even give some extra incentive for the developers to try and balance things out better so you don't always need some specific weapon to be lethal.

Unfortunately, its kinda already turned into Builds.  Not as bad, but it will get there.  Human charge, Asari stasis spam, Krogan metal-heads.  No amount of stabilization will remove metagaming unless you actually make everyone a perfect edge.

Cool by me, as long as human genders are easy to unlock in the full game.

I dont think Bioware will get rid of their random system... no mather how much we ask for it...
BUT, we can porpose alternatives that will give us some choice in that ramdomness...
Please...if u r somehow unhappy with the actual unlock system see my post... IMO its a very plausive options besides the actual random system...

Lets show BIOWARE that there are alternatives to upgrade their system based in our requisitions!!

It's fine. Doesn't need changing, doesn't need alternatives.

I like the current system. I hope you guys can learn to be patient, how many hours have you put into the game? Are you guys usually this impatient? Who would have thought RPG fanatics are the impatient type? I would have never guessed this.

And where did I imply it did?

In the part where you claim "it's not a big deal" - given that this is obviously something where opinions, preferences and experiences differ.

Honestly, as much as you roll your eyes about all these threads claiming to speak for the community, I do the very same every time I read one of the apologists pharisaicly declaring that "it's not a big deal" and people "need to get over it" etc.

All of these statements are completely irrelevant. The number and ratio of pro/contra posts itself should be conclusive enough, and much less tainted by individual perception.

Now, it seems to be a human flaw that has nearly everyone assume they speak for all of us, and given the vast amounts of comments on this controversy, the impression that such an assumption is actually correct is tempting. As such, I cut them a break and do not speak out against people claiming they do, provided they still participate in the debate on an appropriate level of mutual respect. What I do speak out against is people accusing others of it and THEN going on to do it themselves, as that is simply hypocrisy and self-righteousness, not helping with the discussion at all.

Hope that should clear up the confusion; I thought that the short comment in the previous post was hint enough not requiring further explanation.

I think the unlock system isn't too bad. What's a bit annoying, is that you can't buy med packs, rockets or ammunition seperately.

I totally agree. This character system is bull****. I am a N67 and I have not unlocked one single new character

3 options.

1.Make a seperate character unlock box.

2.Let us purchase characters for 100,00k or so.

3.Let us choose our first character from anyone, then lock therest.

Bioware please allow players to be who they want to be, there are people that have been playing for a very very very long time with characters they dont want to play as, its very frustrating.

Players who like or dont mind the way chars are unlocked, are the ones that already unlocked thier fav char, or just wants to level them all up and doesnt care which one they play as. Not everying is the same.

And I think its fine.

It got me to play a lot of classes I never would have otherwise, and it really makes me want to play "Just one more round!" Because I'm thinking I might get something that completly changes my playstyle.

After trying for many hours to unlock the revnant. I know that feeling. I was playing last night, and was 5k credits short of a vet pack, so I decided to play one more round, bought my box and BAM, there is my unlock. :P

I, like many others are perfectly ok with the current system. It's one of the better systems I've seen even.

Then you should have gotten a lot of high-level weapon and mod upgrades. I'd rather use a human Adept with an Avenger X than a Krogan Soldier with a Mattock II.

I see the MP system is set up so that you're encouraged to constantly adapt and mix things up to complement your team for every mission instead of being a specialist all the time. For example, if you don't like the Vanguard but you keep on getting shotgun and mod upgrades, then maybe you should give it try and be in the front lines for a change. Or if your team has 3 Vanguards then switch to an Engineer as a support role, etc. You'll get your dose of role-playing fix in the SP anyways. I consider the characters in MP to be chess pieces that Shepard (you) get to move around.

Also, this is a demo with very truncated content, so I wouldn't blow this random loot thing out of proportion. Sidenote: it's funny how people used to complain about not having random loot, and now that you've got it, you complain you have no control over it.

I think the unlocks are okay if they fix the bugs with it. If you maxed out the Appearance and are level 20 you should never receive as a card. This way you increase the chance of getting another race/class card you are missing.

I mean this works for the weapons after you get rank X weapon or rank V attachment you do not get offered it again.

I'd be happy if they added a more expensive box where you are guaranteed a character unlock, and it should KNOW not to unlock a character you already have.

I didn't read through this thread, but I will say I disagree with the OP's opinion, and that "the people have spoken" is false, that's a no-brainer.

That said, I love the random system. It creates reason to keep playing. If everything was unlocked, or even if I got to choose what I wanted, I would already be bored. I'd pick this this and this.... and would never experience the other aspects/classes/powers because I already got what I "wanted."

Regardless, its obvious a lot of work went into creating this system, and the reasoning behind it is clear. There's zero chance it will go away.

I have a feeling that this isn't so much a "bug" as a result of this being a demo, and having most of the content locked. If you're cracking open vet packs and all you're getting is blue character cards, yeah that's gonna be crap in the demo, but in the full game after promoting characters and having them reset back to level 1, those are going to help (even if it's only a little bit). Also I reckon that the demo is defaulting to this because there's nothing to unlock for you unless it's a rare of some sort, and rare things still have to be rare, so I guess they had to fill up the common stuff somehow.

I agree with the more expensive box part; I said as much in a different thread I can't remember. As for "knowing" not to unlock a character, I doubt BioWare would (if not could) implement such a function, following from what I said earlier, and even if they did, I'd prefer it if it weren't just character unlocks. I'd take a Widow or Carnifex over a drellguard or turian sentinel any day!

I play some games in where you get character unlocks available for multiplay if you complete the Main Story. I hope ME3 does something like that.

Seriously, people? You all see a mechanic in a demo and you immediately assume that they aren't going to do ANYTHING about the system in the full game, where there will be over two times the content available?

You seriously think that they're going to remove the pack system, and not just add more packs to the game? It's a simple fix, yet you insist on "this system is broken, lets kill it". If world was all people like you, we would never have invented spaceships, planes, boats, lightbulbs, electricicty, the telephone, the internet, america, the list goes on. The problem doesn't need a new unlock system, it needs for you to sit down and shut up, and humor Bioware on giving us more packs to recieve unlocks in.

It strange thought being a Demo people are crying about it. Wait for real thing. PS: This demo was developed back for an E3 so Half the product or changes were not there. Be glad we got a look at it.
