Anyone have any suggestions for a good mic for the 360 that won't break the bank? Mine broke last week and it really does come in handy sometimes. I was just going to get another Microsoft headset, but I figured I should at least look around some first.

I'm shopping for a headset too. I'm looking at getting the original headset.. for about $6 or the slightly more pricey one, the wireless... that's about $49 bucks... its $80 in store

the headset I got needs an extra AV plug which I don't have....

Just in case anyone is actually reading this, after talking with a friend and reading some reviews, I decided to go with the Turtle Beach Ear Force XC1. My friend swears by Turtle Beach and since he's a major COD nut, I'll trust his recommendation along with the dozen or so others I found in the reviews for it. Also, the Microsoft wireless headsets seem to have a bad reputation for dropping collection if you get more than 3 feet away from the console.

I only need it for chat, since my surround sounds works nicely, thank you, and the design is pretty good with semi-open ear phones that allow you to hear the chat without blocking out the game sounds. The selling point for my is that it is designed to run off the controller like the Microsoft one, while eliminates all of the hassle with extra cords and such that comes with the others. Also, the fact that it's only $10.00 more than the standard Microsoft one is a plus.

I went with Turtle Beach until they broke, now I just use the cheap one that comes with the Xbox. I hardly even use the mic as it is though.

I've got the new EFXP300 turtle beach blue tooth wireless set and love it. It can answer my phone and works for all formats and consoles...but it was $300

I've been using a turtle beach x11 for the longest time, its always had a hiss that seems to be prevalent with the turtle-beach headsets for 360 I've used. Nothing I did could get it to go away, up and including exchanging the headset two or three times.

Its well worth the extra cash to buy a quality headset, and if wireless/bluetooth running on a frequency not often used by other "Wireless" devices to eliminate signal bleed. I'd LOVE to have a pair of the new astros, or a bose headset.. Not sure about owning another Turtlebeach I'm a little burned by personal experience.

I have been using the same wireless xbox headset for years and its still going, most of my friends use the same thing. Except the ones who have turtle beach stuff. I personally have zero interest in anything turtle beach related as anyone I have ever heard on one always seem to have issues making it work properly.

So, since this thread got necroed, I guess I'll give an update. My headset is still working fine and no problems so far. The only time I notice any hiss is when you turn the volume up the whole way, at any reasonable level it's silent. I compared it to a standard microsoft mic and it's far more clear. I've actually had a few people comment about how clear it is during a match. So after six months, I would stand by the recommendation.

I've found the Microsoft wired headset to be a piece of junk for my big head. The microphone isn't sensitive enough. When it comes right down to it, I'd suggest researching wired headsets in general - not just those intended for the 360 - because the current controller has a standard headset connector. I'm using an old Panasonic headset that I "stole" (I asked, but I was taking it regardless, hehe) when I was housesitting for my mom and sister. It worked so much better than the one from MS...though I do miss the mute switch; this one only has a button that has to be held.

I'd say a Turtle Beach x12. I have them and I got em for $40. I've had them for a year so far and I have no complaints about them.

Yeah, Turtle Beach x12 for around 40 or 50.  Last for a long time, can be used on the PC as well, or even your TV if you want, no problems and no complaints.

Not stole, my friend. You declared eminent domain. That's the way I do it.

Yup. My turtle beaches had lots of  problems too. Now I just use the microsoft headset that came with my xbox.

Is there any way to use a pc headset on 360? I have a razer carcharias headset, which has dual 3.5mm jacks, and I would much rather use that to the 360 standard headset, even if it's just for chat. Does anyone know about an adapter that would work for that?
