Also, i would only use it when/if I ever play with friends. And I really only know 4 other people who have played ME before, and one person is on a different platform. =(

/sarcasm off.
At any rate, the fact that there's no text chat is atrocious.

I lost everyone on Firebase Ghost in the LZ. Every cerbie was throwing grenades, I holed up in a building nearby, and made a run for the LZ when I made enough of a hole with 10 seconds on the clock.

Firebase White and everyone got held up by Cerberus in the same spot. I was the only one who made it.OperatingWookie wrote...

It's really just the grenade happy enemies. They really cause alot of deaths, not counting phantoms/turrets.

A female voice attracts way too much attention (in my experience), so I don't really like talking. I only do when I'm with my friends or forum friends.
This for me.
Too many bad experiences when the guys focus on my gender rather than playing the game. There is only so many innapropriate sexual comments and "shouldn't you be in the kitchen?" jokes I can handle.
My usual response to this is asking if the offender's mother is too busy engaging in a certain activity behind some rank bar to be there/make them sandwiches instead.
Probably not the most mature way to handle it, but it's sure as hell hilarious when they get pissed off.

We won on gold without using it...
It's not necessary if your pals use common sense and don't do stupid things like using a vanguard as the team's sniper.

Seriously, do people not know what "co-op" stands for?
I've been through so many matches that are lucky to make it to wave 5 because NO ONE HAS THEIR FREAKIN' MICROPHONE TURNED ON TO FREAKIN' COMMUNICATE and... wait for it... COORDINATE!!!!!!!
God forbid you talk to people and tell them,
"Hey, there's a turret around that corner!"
"Look out for that Phantom behind you!"
"Don't shoot your rocket at that Atlas, I got it!"
"Please help me flank this Guardian!"
"Help me take out this Nemesis sniper!"
"I got the next terminal being hacked, cover me!"
IS IT SO HARD?!?!?!
Seriously, the number of people who are not mic'ed is just....
Last thing I want to do on day one of Mass Effect 3 is listen to the L4D2 microphone screamers rage. I'll wait a week before even considering communicating with anyone in-game.

It goes in spurts I guess. I can be with a group that has its stuff together and get multiple extractions in a row and then there are those random groups where I can barely make it to wave 6 let alone to extraction and more often than not, it's those groups that are silent ... hence my rant in the OP.
Maybe it's just a trend of bad luck over the past day or so that has me on this rant but it seems that communicating and actually coordinating helps is all.
It's that varied even if you only play "voiceless" anyway.
Yes a well coordinated team should do better than a non coordinated one.
