My mic is on, but I typically only talk when I hear people I'd get along with. Thankfully I haven't heard anyone that bothers me too much as of yet.

Oh guys, where is your faith in humanity? Not every player that talks on Multiplayer, automatically talks bull****, giggles or swears. And I as a woman who talks every now and then on the game have not come across sexist remarks so far. Should it happen, person get's told off. Simple as that. Are we adults or not?

I love being able to exchange with other players, because it makes me feel like a human team - not like AIs. However, if I feel that a short comment (like "watch out, Atlas behind you") is unwelcome or unappreciated, I shut up. Efficiency of play does not depend on the talk, but on coordination, on watching each other's backs. But talk CAN help. Especially for newbies.

Since it is not a competition, why aren't we honest: if some talk annoys you, ask politely for silence and next round choose another partner. If you like to talk, do so, but don't chatter blindly except all do it :) A bit of flexibility has never done any harm.

SO IF YOU WANT TO PLAY AND TALK, ADD ME :) maloo78

Game Chat seems to be disabled, whether I'm switching between game and party or not.

The Mute All Not Friends is apparently disabled, so it's not the culprit.

I would talk, but every game I join with people on mic ends up being a migraine inducing nightmare because people either have their mics too close to their mouths so all I hear is wheezing and crackling, have their mics too far away so I have to strain to hear and then get the horrible pops and crackles of the aforementioned mouth-breathers, or have nothing but highly annoying background noise, like kids crying, people yelling, etc.

I've yet to play in a game where the mic made any difference at all. Generally it's people complaining about their score, how they died, how Bioware designed the game, or ranting on and on about stuff they just clearly don't understand (like how Bioware is going to add heretofore unseen aliens to MP, or even Elcor or Volus).

And honestly, one more "you know what would be cool?" and I might just globally mute chat. Anyone who starts off a statement with "you know what would be cool?" is NOT going to suggest something cool. Just like starting with, "no offense" means it will be offensive, and "I'm not racist, but..." will be racist.

People with mics annoy me often.

You don't need to call out every single atlas and phantom.

Sometimes I'll get on the mic and start calling out every assault trooper, centurion, and nemesis in rapid order just to screw with them.

I have earbuds, and no mic. Most of the time mic. chatter is useless BS. I do listen, and if someone says something that makes sense, I do respond appropriately. I definately don't think it's a requirement as long as the group sticks together and works as a team. I'm not a great player, and I usually stick to silver, but if I'm on gold with a decent team I usually hold my own.... without a mic.

Seriously, do people not know what "co-op" stands for?

I've been through so many matches that are lucky to make it to wave 5 because NO ONE HAS THEIR FREAKIN' MICROPHONE TURNED ON TO FREAKIN' COMMUNICATE and... wait for it... COORDINATE!!!!!!!

God forbid you talk to people and tell them,

"Hey, there's a turret around that corner!"

"Look out for that Phantom behind you!"

"Don't shoot your rocket at that Atlas, I got it!"

"Please help me flank this Guardian!"

"Help me take out this Nemesis sniper!"

"I got the next terminal being hacked, cover me!"

IS IT SO HARD?!?!?!

Seriously, the number of people who are not mic'ed is just....

I DON'T OWN ONE! (that works) STOP BOOTING ME! I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GO OUT AND BUY A NEW ONE!

Seriously, I just wanna play and have fun like everyone. But I'm a poor college student, it's not my fault my mic died and I can't get a new one.

I'd love to talk to people but I'm French & I'm so bad at speaking English the other players wouldn't understand a thing.
I love it when my teammates are speaking though... (NOT USEFUL. NOT AT ALL. I KNOW.)
Uhh, also when they are screaming at the other guy because he's not in the extraction area (and there are 30 seconds left, oh my god we're never gonna make it), I get it you know, I know we have to hurry but GUYS WE'RE RIGHT THERE AND WE STILL HAVE 30 SECONDS TO GET IN.

I'd love to stop being shy and talk though. But I have to stop being shy first.

(& I'm afraid people will kick me or anything. I know lots of girls are playing too, but I'm particularly bad at TPS, and with what I read on the BSN, seriously, I have reasons not to speak.)

i think using mic is a must when playing in higher difficulties especially gold and platinum. but i never actually try the gold and beyond before 'cause i just felt that im not that good enough and i might make stupid mistakes that could put the team in jeopardize :P

@OP - I think some people are just a bit shy/unsure about talking with complete randoms, especially when some of those randoms can be arrogant ****s. I guess you just over time learn to ignore those people and appreciate the ones who use the mic helpfully. I know it took me some time before I felt comfortable just using the mic with total randoms.

I agree with this. I generally play with my fiance and sometimes his friend so we party chat. Doesn't matter if it's silver/gold/plat. If you have people that know how to play then talking to the other guys isn't a requirement.

I see no one else talking, so I'm not going to. Why should I waste my breath?

Although this one kid wouldn't shut up this one game. "I'm down! Revive me! Focus on the Banshee! Thanks! I'm coming!"

I always have my mic hooked up (xbox). But sometimes you'll run into that one douchebag that makes you wish you never said a word at all. Then sometimes there's that guy that always has his mic on so you can hear him coughing, breathing, etc. That's when I turn my volume all the way down and I won't hear anything else.

I find I can get my teams to extract on Gold pretty well without mics. But if everyone coordinates vocally everything goes well. Now on platnium I really want everyone to have their mics on preferably.

I do think everyone can at least hear you normally. If I am taking a tiny break inbetween matches and I see everyone has readied up I will at least be considerate and voice that I am AFK for a few secs. I wish folks would do that much more often

The game doesn't help at all really. They should indicate ingame which guy is talking over comms. This way you can start to put together the voices with the names. Maybe people would find it more necessary to use their mics

The way things are- you only get the best results when being in the xbox live party with your boys :(

Mics just seem to give people the chance to be ****s or idiots.
I've encountered 5 or 6 people with delusions of being supreme overlord of 4 people who don't care,
one guy who liked to complain about how no one would revive him, and a very strange gentleman who kept whispering to me to "lick his ****", we need an way to report misuse of the mic.
